Simon Tan
Turkish drivel. No freezing of the conflict, no safe zones. All that is the shit Erdogan is peddling. Smashing the Turkish proxies, then killing of DAESH produces a usable result.

Panzermann
Turkish drivel. No freezing of the conflict, no safe zones. All that is the shit Erdogan is peddling. Smashing the Turkish proxies, then killing of DAESH produces a usable result.Did you read the essay? The plan is to freeze the conflict in the west and north east in a federalized Syria and from there continue to fight daesh. imho keeping a pseudo state of Syria with mostly self governing areas is a bad idea. Won't solve the conflict for long. The various rebel grouos simply do not want to be syrian anymore. And how to untangle the ethnic mix in the big cities they did not touch upon. Simon Tan
Yes I did. Much better to finish it in the west. Put the Jaish al Fatah to the sword or drive them into Turkey. Thousands of gunmen in Hatay etc will be hilarious. Let the Turks choke on their proxies. The Turkmen have already abandoned the frontline. The cities and the civilians will give thanks for peace and a return to the status quo ante. Syria has no problem with Sunni, Shia, Alawite, Assyrian and Kurd living together. The mistake is to assume that there is any merit to not finishing this... The EU has painted itself into this alternate and irrelevant reality. There is no safe zone unless Turkey decides to invade and that is unlimited war with Russia. There will be rump Syria and Rojava. They will have an entente based on opposing Turkey. The Russians and Iranians will guarantee Syrian sovereignty, the Americans will enable de facto autonomy for Rojava. Cut off from Turkey, DAESH will wither and be butchered mercilessly. The example of the LTTE is most applicable. The tribes that sided with DAESH will be eradicated, wiped away. bojan
For Lebanon it would be labeled in English as were other weapons....Is there a list of foreign sales by yugo factories? Hahaha good luck finding it... Often deals were not published as weapons were sold to both sides of same conflict (Iran-Iraq being prime example) or top "morally questionable" countries... I found out a lot of those, including odd deals that were not publicized (like millions of .50 rounds to US in mid-'60s, or 7.92x57mm ammo to Paraguay in ;70s), but RB M57 remains unknown as it was never formally exported... I do not agree with the proposed plan as well. I posted it, because RAND's ideas have an influence on politics . How to cut it from its support in Iraq? LTTE?

Simon Tan
Because Saudi and Sam decided to shiv Ali Abdallah Salleh. And replaced him with a puppet. Who failed.
Simon Tan
Tehran had limited traction with the Zaidis.... until Saudi drove the latter to arms of the former.
richard g
A realistic start to peace discussions would be to drop the silly requirement that Assad must go.
Simon Tan
Assad must go...or else the bashi bazouks get pounded into the ground and used as fertilizer. The Syrian opposition is not even representative of the facts on the ground. The biggest groupings aren't even involved like al-Nusra or Harakat al-Shams. The Europeans and Americans pretend they are doing something with this farce and the Russians play along, knowing full well that peace comes from the end of a Grad rocket. The SAA has killed more DAESH in 1 place in a week than the US has in 2 years.

Simon Tan
More like Baghdadi Motors. The only pkacecthey would het it is from DAESH but itcwould have to be captured up in Aleppo vefore being moved to Hama. Unless.......
Panzermann
Yes the most likely source is capture from the Iraq Army and then captured from daesh. IMHO.
Adam Peter
Now where did they get this Humvee? And why they replaced the engine with a VW diesel?
Panzermann
Now where did they get this Humvee? And why they replaced the engine with a VW diesel? NOx ain't black and the soot modern small displacement high compression, high pressure diesels spit out is very very fine. Those microparticles that are bad for your lungs, bordering on nano particles. That thick soot is typical of older diesel engine designs. I guess Iraq did not buy filters. bojan
That single row of ERA blocks looks useless with this little coverage. Not only that but they are also orientated wrong, for optimal performances there is a way those should be mounted so a flyer plate interaction with jet is optimized. OTOH, those are homemade skirts and ERA mounting.
