A question that has been rolling around in my head for a while. How does the Merkava cool it's engine? Other tanks such as Challenger and Leo 1 & 2 have the large grills and fans on the rear deck to cool the engine, but the only vent I can see on the Merkava is the small one on the left side that appears to be the exhaust. Two are 3" drain plugs (try swimming without them!). Can't recall the purpose of the larger one. Engine access thingy. Thought it was an escape hatch. Thanks for that, I had thought the larger one was an escape hatch based on the first picture, but then the later pictures showed it was in the engine bay. Weren't a number of Buccaneers withdraw because of fatigue failure of thier wings, IIRC there was a hole drilled through a spar for a cable run which resulted in their failure?

Since someone had mentioned nuclear weapons, what sort of yeild would have been needed to destroy one of the flak towers - realising that a relatively small airburst weapon would take out its armament. Sorry just one of those questions that popped into my head.
