  1. A point can be made both just turned de facto war (as initiated by for example US signing "Hitler first" and escorting convoys and attacking German naval units) into de iure Damn the Roosvelt's neocons and warmongers, their laughable doctrine and blatant violations of neutrality pushed Germany to the wall and gave them no choice! We already have a thread for that!
  2. Curtis in my avatar looks like he's sad because of you. Interesting, because if he had been happy, you, being Polish, would have been 100% dead
  3. Yep, or used to. OTOH, Repsol is largely Spanish, there's a sizeable stake owned by Pemex (Mexico), US funds, and others. It's open to question wether the Argies will pay or not, they have done this antics before.
  4. Knowing what we now know, the US had an overwhelming edge in terms of weapons and delivery systems until the mid-60s. At the time of the Cuban crisis, the USSR would have been lucky to deliver more than 10 or so warheads to CONUS (7 on top of R7 missiles at Plesetsk, 6 or so on Golf class subs that may survive the ASW forces deployed against them, whatever survives in Cuba post-bombing plus a few bombers that make it through), to which the disruption caused by friendly fire must be added (nuclear armed Nikes and Genies), but the USSR would have been obliterated with some targets attacked more than once due to lack of coordination between the services - as mentioned above, the plan then did not discriminate, so Eastern Europe, China, North Korea, North Vietnam... would have also been obliterated. OTOH, the USSR at the time had a significant number of IRBMs that would have laid waste to Western Europe, and possibly Japan (not too sure of their deployment beyond the Urals), Alaska, Okinawa and the Philippines. Net result would have been a US reigning over the Americas as the ME would have been in the fall out zone or would have been taken out as staging bases for SAC.
  5. Indeed, one of the most satisfying kill IMO, knowing the other guy is frustrated at having killed despite his efforts at concealment...
  6. Could it be the Special Service Brigade, with No. 2 and 41st (RM) commandos?
  7. We have this one carrier lying idle that the Brits could use... But at the end of the day, nothing will come out of Repsol's loss as there are other companies with too many interests in Argentina. Capitalism being what it is, somebody else will step in to be robbed next.
  8. I played 2 months at premium and bought a Lowe and have a cash reserve of around 12 million credits from the preorder package, still have 5000 gold from then (don't really want to use it to convert xp, as I turn on accelerate training as soon as a tank is gilded), playing premium full time in the mid tiers results in a deluge of credits but a lack of xp (IME, not being Fritz...) so I went back to non premium. New tanks take a loooot of time to unlock, but on the plus side you learn how to play them and train the crews.
  9. Yeah, suuure, what next? that you don't know one "Luke Yaxley"?
  10. Hmmm, arguable, Italian codes were broken early in the war and led to the Matapan disaster, at which point they were changed and remained invulnerable for the rest of the war. I wonder why, though, probably due to lack of resources at Bletchley Park and because the LW code was broken anyway and they were getting the info from another source.
  11. In Sierra Leone there were diamonds, not sure what they can get out of N. Mali. If things get out of hand, the Legion will make an appearance.
  12. And there's also Mali breaking apart: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5i7rJELzjoWVFAZpRtN5aTftmK_ew?docId=aa333d18c3c84c7d935341a7101de5ea Beau geste of the XXI century sooner or later?
  13. Aim for the T-46, it's a sweet tank. Pz-II also seems to do well IME, avoid those things called 38(H)75 that are grey, when everything else fails, ram!!
  14. 1. Do I start with a (small) tank, or do I start with XPs? You start with 4 tanks, a german Leichtertraktor, a Soviet MS-1, a US T-1 and a French FT-17 2. Can I have more than one tank at a time? As many as you want - provided you pay for the garage slots with gold which is bought with real money or though a promotion code. 3. When I join a battle, do I command more than just my own one tank? Nope, just you tank 4. How do I communicate with team-mates? there's a chat for random battles, where you can send messages, but communicate means someone's listening, that's hardly the case 5. Can I play once a week with random people and still advance and have fun? Sure, it'll just take longer, you won't notice it much in the lower tiers, but you will with the higher tiers - that's my mode, I am able to put an hour a day at most. 6. If I join a random game, how good are people at cooperating in general?? (compare it to people who gives a sh*t about cooperating in random FPS multiplayer games). about the same, sometimes you are lucky with a half competent team, sometimes they are just mad monkeys and sometime the monkeys are on the other side and you have a stellar game! 7. Can I sell my old tank, and get XPs, when I want a new one? Yes, you will have to sell some tanks to free garage slots in exchange for cash. experience can only be earned through battle. It's a pretty mindless game, but it's fun!
  15. Bolt on packs would ruin its stealth, but, close to the coast, it would be protected by the LCS with its 57mm gun and Griffin missiles, at least from boghammers...
  16. Depends on the style, if you want fast and hardhitting, pick up the AMX or the Pershing, T28 doesn't sound too appealing, and the VK eventually grows on you, but you need a top everything and patience not to be frustated. Pershing learning curve could be steep too IME.
  17. See here. http://csis.org/files/publication/100323_Options_todealwith_Iran.pdf the bad news first: We conclude that a military strike by Israel against Iranian Nuclear Facilities is possible and the optimum route would be along the Syrian-Turkish border then over a small portion of Iraq then into Iran, and back the same route. However, the number of aircraft required, refueling along the way and getting to the targets without being detected or intercepted would be complex and high risk and would lack any assurances that the overall mission will have a high success rate. Iran Nuclear Facilities The main facilities which are critical nodes in Iran’s Nuclear infrastructure that can stop or at the least delay the program:  Nuclear Fuel Cycle: • Esfahan : Nuclear Research Center. Uranium Conversion Facility (UCF). • Natanz : Uranium Enrichment Facility • Fordow: Uranium Enrichment Facility Plutonium Production Nuclear Reactor: • Arak : Heavy Water Plant and future Plutonium production center
  18. Not only that, but the reason there so few fleet actions was because the RN did make itself scarce after 1940 in the waters patrolled by the Italians. The reason Malta was nearly starved was not because the Italians remained swinging at anchor.
  19. Yes, but some times you get some "ugly" surprises - my KV is still the best performer! at this rate I am going to keep it...
  20. Why would they question your data and why would they know what the IDF is capable of? Relevant: from here: http://www.omegaairrefueling.com/vms/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=47&Itemid=41 Where exactly do you plan on refueling?, say you can use 80.000 ibs F-16 fuel capacity internal+2 dt: 12.000 ibs* + 3000 ibs in CFT = 15.000 Ibs - if it needs to replenish 50% of the fuel, that's 10 aircraft per tanker** F-15E: 35.550 ibs*** - but if the F-15 needs to replenish 50% of its fuel it's only 4 per tanker. * For which the USAF calculates a combat radius of 860 Km. ** And here comes the cave-at - measuring against actual Israeli performance, Operation Opera, the F-16 internal+external capacity (the number I put down) would enable to fly 1.600 Km more or less, but it was barely enough to get them to Baghdag, add 25% more fuel and optimistically assume it equals to a 25% increase in range (it won't due to drag and increased fuel consumption to push all that fuel) and you get - barely - to 2000 Km, so if you want them to self escort and to avoid defences, you are going to need to refuel. *** Maximum combat radius per globalsecurity: 1853 Km - so some fuel would be needed to get back home. So the absolute best case is 10 F-16Is x 7 tankers = 70 aircraft per package, but if the Israelis don't do packages, then this total drops off as the tankers need to be on station and the fuel available for transfer drops.
  21. This is a big if - the Israelis managed to shut down the Syrian air defence network when they bombed their reactor, since Iranian AD is less sophisticated, there's no reason they cannot repeat the performance IMO, leaving only the interceptors. The F-14 with AIM-54s is something to take into account, but will those AIM-54s (if any are left) be serviceable after 34 years? I seriously doubt it. The Iranian MiG-29 is again nothing to write home about - they just managed to put one ex-Iraqui one back in service, the others date from the early 90s. OTOH, the Iranians have managed to keep all this planes flying without US support, and by now they may well have been able to replicate the electronics on the Phoenixes, so they may be operational after all. According to all I see, Iran has 2 squadrons of F-14s.
  22. My breathless pal, since the fuel would come from external tanks...aircraft type would be irrelevant. Also buddy refuel tank capacity would be standard and irrelevant from aircraft type. As said earlier, IAF usually uses larger drop tanks anyway than others. Tanker fighters would use 3 drop tanks obviously, 2 to extend their own range and one buddy tank. They would fly 2 missions, one inbound, one outbound. Must hurt you, my pal, to realize that this would bring all targets into strike range in Iran. Remember to breath. I realise that being clueless is painful for you, so again you need to resort to personal attacks By you numbers, 1 tank is being used to bring the other tank, the other is the buddy store, so you are transferring what? the internal fuel that is needed to go back to base? You sure the Saudis are not going to mind all those IDF-AF pilots ejecting all over the place?
  23. But the buddy tankers need to have enough fuel to transfer, therefore F-15s, or you are going to have a chain of buddy tankers from Israel to Iran, cutting back numbers available for the strike. You can refuel tankers from tankers a lá Black Buck, but only cutting back the numbers available for other missions, the USN used KA-6s for a reason. I don't know what the fuel fraction for the last buddy tankers is going to be, but it's going to be marginal in the best of cases.
