  1. I'm pretty sure that Academy just mixed up the images because I supplied them with the reference photos of the actual vehicle along with other details. /Thord
  2. The Magen David (Star of David) identifyes them as ambulances, except for the first vehicle in the row.
  3. Ok Thomas, now I see what you mean. The plate and the curved rail is two parts. The rail is just a reinforcement of the edge of the plate and when they repainted the tank they probably stripped of as much as possible to make repainting easier. /Thord
  4. I found some images in the manual showing the mount so I took some quick snap shots with my new toy, a Nikon D60. There should be a circular base plate on the cupola between the periscopes. The lower arm is probably still mounted in the cupola even if the mg-mount is taken off. /Thord
  5. Let's see if I can give you some answers. If the mount is absent then also the pintle should be missing because it's bolted to the cupola. I'll see if I can find some images of the cupola without the mount in the technical manual. The elevation rod is also removed when the mg-mount is removed. The plate on the hull front, to the right of the mg-box is a guide plate for spent ammo belts. The belts are ejected thru the two holes visible in the image you linked to and collected on the hull front. The plate is probably there on the blue tank bbut obstructed by the gun tube in the image. What do you mean with "that curved thingy"? /Thord
  6. If you need images of the strv 103 you can check my Prime Portal page: http://www.primeportal.net/tanks/thord_wedman/strv_103c/ http://www.primeportal.net/photo_home/thord_wedman_home.htm Check those out and let me know if you need more details of any part and I'll fix it ASAP. /Thord
  7. Well, it sure looks like the TC mg mount is missing there. Basically the mount is on a pintle with a rod for elevation going from inside the cupola and a wire for the trigger so there is not that big of a problem removing it at the work shop. It's not done in the field however so my guess is that this vehicle was taken from the work shop for this occation. /Thord
  8. Hmmm, can you share that image you are talking about? Ofcourse the mount can be removed but it's nothing you do on troop level. It's not removable in that sence, like a pintle mount. I never seen a production vehicle without the tc mg mount, only prototypes. /Thord
  9. Actually it's the hull from a strv 74 mated with a turret from an ikv 73 made up to look like a strv m/42. The vehicle belongs to the Jake Littlefield collection. BTW, there's now 50 different walk arounds of swedish vehicles on my Prime Portal page. http://www.primeportal.net/photo_home/thord_wedman_home.htm /Thord
  10. No, sorry. I can dig into it and see what I can find out.
  11. The strv 103D is only a test vehicle and was never put in production, only one vehicle has been modified. First they did tests with night vision, the vehicle was then called "Night hawk" if I remember correctly. Later it was modified with remote control and is now called "No hands" The vehicle is preserved at the Axvall armour museum, registration number 202248. Check this article at Plastic Warfare for some photos: http://www.plasticwarfare.se/?p=249 /Thord
  12. What do you want to know? There's not much written about swedish AFVs but there's some web sites out there. As for images you can see mine at Prime portal: http://www.primeportal.net/photo_home/thord_wedman_home.htm At the moment there's 25 different vehicles uploaded and more to come. @Exel There's no version of the Centurion called strv 106, it was a project name for an eventual upgrade of the strv 101 that never left the drawing table. There was only 1 strv 105 made before the project was cancelled in favor of the Leopard 2. /Thord
  13. Some info from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanonenjagdpanzer And from the panzer museum in Munster: http://www.panzermuseum.com/tank-destroyer-90mm.html /Thord
  14. I have checked about pbv 302 in Lebanon and it has never been deployed there. Same with the pbv 301. The question then is, what did you see there? /Thord
  15. Yes, I'm sure about it beeing presented to The Houshold Cavalry museum. They got it around 2003. I'm also aware that it's not on display in the museum but they have it in storage. They also recieved an ikv 91 last week in return for a Ferret given to Sweden. /Thord
  16. This makes me very confused. As far as I know we never deployed the pbv 302 to Lebanon, same with the pbv 301. The first armoured vehicles of the swedish contingent in Lebanon was purchased in january of 1988, four SISU XA180 wheeled APC. These vehicles are the ony armoured vehicles deployed by the swedish contingent in Lebanon. I served in Lebanon in 1991 and we had two XA180 on the guard platoon in Naqoura and two on the engineer coy in Jiwayya. I will continue to research this thru my channels in Sweden. /Thord
  17. Thanks for the info. When did you ride in a pbv 302 in Lebanon? As far as I know we have only deployed the pbv 302 to Bosnia and Kosovo. /Thord
  18. Yes, that's correct. The commanders hatch has a vision block built into it that corresponds with the top part when the hatch is closed. On the inside there's an angled mirror. Same goes for the drivers hatch, folding mirrors on the inside. Yes, you can see straight thru the top section of the commanders periscopes witch gives the TC the posibility to see without raising his head over the edge. /Thord
  19. 212 views and nobody knows nothing? Apparantly the one previously at APG is the one thats now in New England. Is there no old tanker here that was around APG in the late sixties or early seventies that knows anything about this vehicle? Anyone that can point me to someone to ask for info? /Thord
  20. The amunition is stored vertically on an electrically operated transporter in the rear right of the turret. The gunner has three buttons on his panel to manouver the transporter. He can either run the transporter either way as long as he presses the button or he can move it one grenade at a time, or until one grenade engages the switch if there is emty space in the transporter. The image shows a swedish pbv 501 with the autoloader removed. /Thord
  21. I know of at least one pbv 302 thats found it's way to the US, the Military Museum of Southern New England ( http://www.usmilitarymuseum.org ) has one with US markings. I've also heard that there's possible one at Aberdeen. There is also one at The Houshold Cavalry museum i London. Can anyone help me with info on these vehicles, when did they get there, why are they there? Did the undergo trials in the US? Is there any more vehicles scattered around the world? The vehiles in the US are very interresting, at least the one in New England because it's in the original configuration and has not been modified like all vehicles in Sweden. This suggests that it came to the US in the early seventies or late sixties. If any one can help me with images of the one at Aberdeen and in London I would be grateful, especially license and chassi number. (It's engraved on a plate to the left of the driver, on the inside of the front plate) /Thord
  22. Thanks. Bofors has made a smaller version of the CV90 turret for use on ex. Warsaw-pact vehicles like the BMP-1 and MT-LB, maybe something similar has been tested on the M113.
