Mike Steele Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 There are so many good ones: http://www.barexchan...drinks/type/9/KThe name started with the letter "k", and was long and German Well he did narrow it down....
Simon Tan Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Best is subjective. I am very fond of Czech style pils, something that is not so common in US versions because of the differences in hops.It is also a truth that beer does not travel well in many cases and/or changes with time and motion. I am reminded of the very different product that one experiences in a tasting room, a draft keg and a bottle in a batch 'test' at a Brewery.
snotman Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Best/Favorite: Old Style Pilsner (Pill) - Haven't found a way to get in down in these parts but greatly look forward to it when visiting relatives up north. Avoid at all cost: Bud/Coors/Corona Scott
PCallahan Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I remain a huge fan of Red Hook's Longhammer IPA. Hoppy, but not abusively so, and drinkable in significant quantity. Also widely available in grocery stores, which is useful. Plus the shape of the bottle is cool. Pat Callahan
Simon Tan Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Best new use of beer.....Stout Afogato! Oh...endless hours and calories of fun. Hic.....!

Mr King Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Shared the article with my baby bro who runs marathons and triathlons. He said its common for the organizers to offer free beer at the end of marathons.
Guest Jason L Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I need to get into this Marathon thing. Except that I hate running.
BP Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 I need to get into this Marathon thing. Except that I hate running. Hash running. "The objectives of the Hash House Harriers as recorded on the club registration card dated 1950:To promote physical fitness among our membersTo get rid of weekend hangoversTo acquire a good thirst and to satisfy it in beerTo persuade the older members that they are not as old as they feel"I did it a lot when I moved back to DC and could still run pretty well. Helluva good workout, helluva good time. Marathoning has to be the stoopidest @#$%ing "sport" in the world. Hell, the first "marathoner" dropped dead after doing it. Unless it's sex, lighting fireworks or watching John Wayne movies, I don't want to do ANYTHING for 3+ hours, let alone jog around.

ramontxo Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Best beer is the last one you have left.Having had an stupid house accident that strained my left knee, ankle and abductor at the same time, am in home with "reposo absoluto" (absolute rest) since march the 27. Have call my favourite barman (and close friend) to tell him to prepare enough beer for the night i am allowed back to work and normal life...
Mr King Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 The creators of a now defunct show Three Sheets, are doing a Kickstarter to see if they can raise enough money to create their show independent of networks. The show is to be the same as the old show, in which they travel around the world meeting new cultures, and learning about the drinking habits and alcohols. Only this time they will be doing much of the traveling by train, and posting the episodes via internet. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/chug/chug-an-international-drinking-show-with-zane-lamp
Rickard N Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Got a new favorite this weekend when I was at the opening of Brewdog Stockholm, Motueka, blimey that was one good beer. Too bad it's a limited edition methink. /R
Simon Tan Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Superstrength brews are just too.....much. I really like a simple well made pilsner. The real use of the giant oaty, mealy, stouty, chocolatey, coffeeey stuff if to pour over ice cream. Numnum.

scj1014 Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I was in Ohio over the last weekend. That fact alone is enough to make one want to drink copious amounts of alcohol, however, we went to visit my wife's mother, sister and niece. That makes four reasons to consume alcoholic beverages...so I took advantage of the situation. We went out to dinner Sunday evening(after my mother-in-law and sister-in-law had one of their all-too frequent screaming matches). The waiter came to the table and after the obligatory personal history dissertation(when did that become part of the dining-out experience?), he asked if we would like something to drink while we perused the menu.I noticed that they had Foster's Lager on tap in 22-ounce mugs. Now, I normally don't drink more than one or two beers at a time, but I was feeling the need to wash away the memory of the morning and afternoon arguments, (which I was not involved in,by the way).So I ordered a mug of Foster's...my wife just smiled(she knew exactly why I ordered it). My dear, sweet mother-in-law made several comments about why I would order a beer. I never drink at family functions or get togethers(or much of anywhere else, for that matter), so I suppose her "concern" was justified. When the waiter delivered the beer, I drew a line about an inch from the bottom of the mug with my finger and told the waiter that his tip was totally dependent upon a new beer arriving before the level of beer in my mug reached that point. He was really attentive about that and fulfilled my request very well. One medium-rare Ribeye with an order of grilled mesquite shrimp and four 22-ounce Foster's later, I felt much better about the whole family visit thing. I think the next time my wife wants to visit her family, I will forego the whole 400-mile (one-way) road trip thing and let her go by herself. When the time comes that the only way I can deal with family members is to immerse myself in alcohol, it's time to drastically limit the exposure. At any rate...I haven't had a Foster's in many years and I thought it was quite adequate as a stress reliever. It helped that I sat at the opposite end of the table from my mother-in-law and niece. My sister-in-law copped a major attitude and wouldn't go to dinner with her mother. At her current svelte weight of 400+ pounds, I don't believe the loss of one meal will hurt her any.
Rickard N Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Looking forward to some beer testing next weekend at the Brewdog AGM /R
