Updated info to reflect name change:

Formerly known as VenerableDamePW aka VDPW

Name: Karmen (legal spelling is Carman!)

Age: 56 - empty nester mother, grandmother, no spouse

Occupation: Currently unemployed but not given up (disabling arthritis issues)

Service: No. Civi but I care and my attitude is "Support Our Troops" even if not the mission, "If you love your freedom, Thank a Veteran! as well as those who lay their lives on the line to help and protect the rest of us."

Location: SE BC Canadian, eh.

Interests: Family, friends, people in general, history - personal family and general, geneology, whats happening, learning other POV, and so much more

Comments: Found Tanknet through a friend in 2004. Am "known" in here by a few members personally, my real name and all info, but choose to use a handle in here. Tanknet and TN-ers have stretched my mind with knowledge and introduced me to more of the world and its happenings, as well as bestowed friendship, fun, love and affection, information and help, and the odd wollop on me. "BEHAVE SCHNELL" TN tempers me but rarely gets me in a temper. It's all good.

Tanknet, for me, is kind of like that old song "Fascination Captured My Heart" ... and thank you all for putting up with me, a "strangest amongst us" woman and a civi at that. Only military types could tough me out and toughen me up like you lot. Thanks.

Hey! My pointer says I live on "skid row"! How the hell did that happen? My neighborhood isn't rich but it's not that bad.

Your skid row is but a pale imitation of the real thing!

Seattle claims to have originated the term, skidding logs down the hill to the Yesler saw mill and having out of work loggers populating Pioneer Square at the foot of the hill.

Welcome to TankNet!! Are you a pilot? We have a few here. Sadly, due to money issues, I had to step back from flying about 3 years ago. I am looking forward to getting back into it, though. I also let my CAP membership lapse.

All that said, there are plenty of aviation-related topics you can add your experience to.

Don't be a stranger!!

Seeing as I'm coming up on my 5 year anniversary of joining the forum and just made my second post I figure I should increase my post count by 50% and introduce myself somewhat.

Name: I'll stick with AT90 in public for now.

Age: 41

Country: Canada

Service: Going into my 24th year in the CF. 21 years or so messing with ammo.

Interest: Well, somehow ammo has become an interest. History somewhat, working with metal things (except bicycles). Hiking and kayaking. Computer games in spurts (especially during the winter). Snow and ice is not an interest.

Tanknet: Found my way with a google search, and immediately bookmarked it. One of my daily reads.

Comments: I post on Army.ca as Ammotech90, so I recognize some of the names here.

Actually, the only rock that King liked was Creedence Clearwater Revival, and he only liked that because I prefaced it with some Hendrix, which almost drove him out of the car. King liked marching band and bagpipe music, although I also introduced him to more modern Celtic music, which he liked.

But, yeah, in his own way, he "rocked".

Name: Jason

Age: 29 (as of this reply)

Country: USA, the great liberal haven of Massachusetts (and no, I'm not a liberal).

Service: Four years active duty, US Army, 19K20 (Sgt/Tank gunner). Five years USAR and NG, MOS varies. Currently 11H20 - member of an anti-tank detachment (TOW missiles) attached to 1-181 Infantry, MAARNG. I've seen and taken part in the full spectrum of ground based combat arms now, armor, artillery and infantry. Maybe I can find myself a nice aviation unit to get into next..... :)

Interest: Tanks, military history, music, sports (except basketball), good beer, good food, wine, travel (when I can), mountain biking, running, playing roller and ice hockey, building military models.

Tanknet: Found Brunk's forum by accident about six months before it went under. My first post was telling Gotz he didn't know what the f*ck he was talking about on the "US Equipment sucks" thread. Been on Tanknet from the beginning, plank owner and active member of moderating staff.

Comments: This is first Internet forum (in it's original Brunk form) I posted on, registered on, or visited. It is the only forum I visit on a regular basis (daily, several times a day). We have a great group of regulars here, and lots of knowledge. I think what I appreciate most, though, is the international input and viewpoints available here (even if I don't agree with them all the time). The fact that we keep this place civil is one of the reasons it is the best forum online IMHO.

Figured this should be the first place I visit in my return. :)

Well, after quite an extended hiatus from the hallowed halls of Tanknet I have returned. Most of the above info is still correct. Age is quite considerably higher now though, I'm about to turn 40 in a few weeks. I am no longer in the service. I don't play hockey any longer as my knees and back are shot. I haven't visited in about four years until speaking with Mike Eastes the other night and deciding to re-visit the the old stomping grounds.

This is my first post here since 2008.
