Sailor Lars Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 (edited) Name : Lauri Heikki Hietanen, albeit thinking of taking the ancenstral name and changing it to Lars Henrik Stubbe, for europarlamentary money-milking operation. Country : The land of the thousand lakes (( even though the two swedish lakes hold more water combined than our all damn ponds )) Age : Meagerly 25, albeit having lived a rather intresting life for the time. Born in 9.12.1981 Service : Civil Servant, instead of Conscription. I was the only one to stand up in the hall and walk through the hall to the three officers with big hats and a big table in front of all, to say that i wanted to do the civil service instead of military. This at age of seventeen. At 18-19, i was realiziing that since i was going through a nordic syndrome plus extras, it might be better to switch to military, since they pay my roof, my food, and my booze. As an extra, they would give me enough to do without having to think it out myself. Rank : Senior Citizen (( retired at age of 19. Post status cum paraparesis TH 10 plus few other not so entertaining injuries )) Taido Kyu 3, achieved as minor, as we were restricted the higher ranks. Intrests : Sex, drugs, rock'n'roll and railway artillery. Tanknet : multi-year lurker Oh... Training : National level Championship at Taido combat sports. Unfortunately unofficially, only. I was insecure and shy as a boy, sent to my first championship at age of 11 and wearing a white belt //edit about the rank. I actually have a rank at something! \o/ Edited December 15, 2006 by Sailor Lars
Sailor Lars Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Am I the only one fearing a hostile Finnish takeover - so many Finns lately But OTOH there are to many yanks and rednecks around here Cheers Hans285392[/snapback] Dear Hans, Resistance is futile. Surrender to your new masters, and being early, guarantee good years for your family in the following years! Cthulhu F'tgnh! Iä Iä!
Ivanhoe Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 Perhaps Hans should be more worried about Finns having an interest in railway guns...
irregularmedic Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 (edited) Everyone expects the TankNet Inquisition. Confess. Its good for the soul. If you have no soul, you'll fit right in. Cthulhu said he was just 'holding on to my soul for safekeeping', I'm sure I'll get it back! Name : Karl - - Country : U.S. of A. Age : 34 Service : 4F *, I tried to enlist when I was 17, and at the time they 'promised' you the MOS of your choice. I was gonna be a tanker and get shipped off to Germany and live happily ever after. Sam didn't want me though, so I've been working as a medic of different stripes, mostly working for the public in some fasion or another.I was 4F due to a back surgery, these days I bet they wouldn't turn me down! Rank : N/A Oh, don't know which of the two of the above categories this should go under, but I spent a year as the Co-Leader of the University of Washington Medical Center's Haz-Mat Decontamination Team. Try saying that three times quickly! Intrests : History; usually military history, most well versed in WWII. Cycling, firearms, the rest is probably best left unmentioned... Tanknet : lurked for awhile, joined recently. Comments: grate site! Edited January 28, 2007 by irregularmedic

Brummbaer Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 A post I forgot to make as first, sorry. Name: Andrea <-- yes it's a MALE name in Italy! Age: born 1968, 38 nowCountry: ItalyService: none, left out in time of reducing drafts.Interest: military history, mostly WW2 and Cold War; have been shifting through ships, planes and land weapons all my life, now stabilized on tanks, but keeping an eye on everything. Also scientific subjects.Tanknet: mostly lurking and asking questions, but sometimes I feel I can put my two cents and hope someone find it useful. Tanknet's a unique place in the net, one of my favorites for the competence and width of the discussions, the incredibly low polemical rate and the great humor that goes all through it. Thanks to all those who make it great.
