Sandstig Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 Name: Edward Sandstig Age: 22 (23 this June 2003 and so on...) Country: Philippines / Sweden - Currently in Manila, the Philippines. Service: None yet. Received mönstring papers from the Pliktverket in November of 1999 but got a cancellation letter a week later. Received another one, later in mid-December but was already in Manila. Person I spoke to said there would be no problem, and just recently confirmed I can still volunteer a few months before I turn 25. November 2003's a little too close, January 2005 perhaps? hmmmm... Interest: Military History, Equipment, TOEs and OOBs; Computer Hardware; Programming and Web Development (not Web Design, though I 'love' to critique); General History; Online Communities and Message Boards; Various games for the PC; Local and international politics; Investment opportunities; Running my business; and of course, most importantly, my girlfriend Tanknet: I don't really remember how I got here. I think I was just surfing around some armour-related sites and all of sudden I found myself in one of the most vibrant and well-informed communities I've ever seen. I registered in November 2000, but I believe I was lurking about three months prior to that. Comments: This is definitely one of the best sites around when it comes to topics of military interest. Never have I seen such a great deal of experience and wisdom regarding these matters contained in a single board. Reading what our experts have to say has proven to be both entertaining and very educational.

Soren Ras Posted January 30, 2003 Posted January 30, 2003 (edited) Name: Soren Rasmussen Age: 35 Country: Denmark Service: Active 2.5 years from 87-90, 90-now in the reserves. Began in infantry, transferred to combat engineers, platoon leader, XO, Company Commander, the odd staff job. (it's all downhill from here on out, I guess) Interests: History, Astronomy, physics, whisky, my family (in no particular order, mind you!) Tanknet: Lurked around the old forum, but when it died, I was too busy with my thesis to notice. Lost in wilderness for a few years. Did not find my way back until a few months ago. Comments: Always loved the mix of people here. Much more interesting than most places. ***********' Update Jan 10, 2006 (might as well edit this instead of being all over the place): Age: 38 until February 6, when 39 comes along. Shudder.Service update: I guess the Company Commander position was the last stop. My unit was RIF-ed and I am now administratively placed on a shelf, until such time as they a - Decide I am still useful, or (more likely)b - Shut down the old fart reserve component of the army(that's me) I should probably add that while I am really an astrophysicist by training, I now consult on IT security for a major capitalist US based multinational corporation, thus assuring my journey to the dark side is complete. So, it's been fun. See ya back here, when MODERATOR - (BBHN) - decides to apply some more "encouragement." Take care. Edited January 10, 2006 by Soren Ras
