Laurelix Posted January 22 Posted January 22 (edited) Based on the observation that the 120mm APFSDS with Sabot weighs 7.2kg... I highly suspect that the round is KEW-A1 APFSDS with 1740m/s muzzle velocity when fired from L/44. Compared to their T-72's TAPNA round which weighs 7.15kg and achieves 1690m/s velocity when fired from the 125mm L/48 gun. 125mm TAPNA Penetration: 270mm @ 2000m at 60 ° 120mm KEW-A1 Penetration: 315mm @ 2000m at 60 ° Overall... we are looking at 15-17% penetration increase when comparing the two rounds. methos Posted January 29 Posted January 29 (edited) What are you on about? This is not KEW-A1, it is the ME432 APFSDS developed by the Spanish company FMG, wholly owned by MSM Group. Edited January 29 by methos

HE-MP-T M339 came from IMI but APFSDS-T initially was DM33A1, BUT... in 2022 ammo was bought from IMI, and is different that the one produced by FMG. The Spanish Army uses ammunition from Elbit (formerly IMI). However this is not the ammunition from FMG (as part of the MSM Group). Two bids were placed for the Spanish Army's contract. ("The contract was managed by the Economic Affairs Department of the Army Logistics Support Command (MALE) through a negotiated procedure with advertising and ordinary processing. This body received bids from IMI and the Granada Ammunition Factory (FMG). The Spanish company's proposal met all the requirements set for the ammunition, with the exception of the delivery deadline. FMG indicated in its bid that it would not be able to deliver the order until the end of September 2023 and was therefore excluded. ") They did not both bid IMI's ammunition, but different designs. FMG's design could not be delivered within time. They did not offer the DM43/KEW-A1 APFSDS, but their own designs (ME432). Just looking at the ammunition and comparing its shape (sabot, projectile) shows that...
RETAC21 Posted February 3 Posted February 3 (edited) Dunno if this helps, but the round is there in the back, besides the training round And probably relevant, FMG is owned by MSM Edited February 3 by RETAC21
