The Orange County Sheriff's Department said deputies detained Joshua Michael Richardson late last month following reports of threatening emails he sent to St. Michael’s Abbey. Investigators said the emails, reported on Aug. 28, contained language interpreted as threatening. 

The situation escalated when investigators said Richardson drove from Alabama to Southern California and showed up in person at the abbey, where deputies said he made additional threats. A priest who encountered Richardson notified the sheriff’s department two days later, triggering a swift investigation.

Deputies said they quickly located and detained Richardson. A search of his vehicle uncovered weapons and tactical gear, including large-capacity magazines, body armor, knives, and brass knuckles. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Orange County Jail.

On Sept. 1, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office formally charged Richardson with several offenses, including possession of brass knuckles, carrying a concealed dagger, possession of a large-capacity magazine and making criminal threats, according to KTLA.

On August 19, St. Michael’s Abbey received a threatening email from Richardson claiming to be the "rider of the pale horse," a reference to the last of the Four Horsemen in the Book of Revelation, and that he was "sent to do the Lord’s reaping before his harvest," an apparent reference to the end of the world, according to a statement from the DA's Office. 

In his email, Richardson allegedly claimed to be Michael the Angel of Death and said that he chose St. Michael’s Abbey as it is one of the few churches in the nation that still practices Michaelmas. Richardson then stated that he would be traveling to the church soon from Alabama, officials said. 

On August 26, officials say Richardson attended afternoon church services at St. Michael’s Abbey and apparently followed the priest into a private area of the church following the service. The DA's Office said Richardson told the priest that he had come to do the "Lord’s work, to separate the weak from the weeds, and that he rode his white pale horse from Alabama."

Weird how there doesn't seem to be anybody protesting the Syrian civil war (something like 230,000 civilians killed so far). Or the countless bloody conflicts going on currently (see below). Just Israel.

According to media reports, Sarnaya was stabbed in the neck and suffered a cardiopulmonary arrest. The three perpetrators, dressed in dark clothing with hoods, fled the scene immediately and have not yet been identified. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the crime.

Sarnaya, originally from Ankawa — a predominantly Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian district of Arba’ilo (Erbil) in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) — was a familiar presence on the social media platform TikTok, where he often addressed religious issues and voiced sharp criticism of Islamist groups. His activism is widely believed to be the most likely motive behind the attack that ended his life.

 

Just to point out the obvious, the Middle East is chock-full of smaller ethnic and religious groups. People in the west don't care, I guess because they aren't at war with Israel (or Judaism in general).

A Dearborn man accused of making antisemitic threats outside of an Oakland County synagogue has been sentenced for illegally possessing firearms, federal officials said.

Hassan Chokr, 38, was sentenced Wednesday to 34 months in prison. Chokr pleaded guilty in May to being a felon in possession of a firearm after possessing multiple firearms inside a gun store.

On the morning of Dec. 2, 2022, Chokr is accused of making racist and antisemitic threats to parents, children and security personnel at a parking lot at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Hills. 

After he was asked to leave the property, federal prosecutors say Chokr went to a gun store in Dearborn and attempted to buy three firearms. While at the store, investigators say Chokr held all three guns and "at times pointed it and pulled the trigger."

Federal authorities say Chokr is a convicted felon and is accused of lying about his eligibility to possess firearms. While waiting for the results of a background check, prosecutors allege Chokr said he would "even the score" and use the guns for "God's wrath." The store denied Chokr's firearms purchase following the background check.
