Renegade334 Posted August 29, 2025 Posted August 29, 2025 (edited) Yeah, it's coming back to the OG BF3 and BF4 standard that we all relished. BF3 holds a very special place in my heart and I spent waaaaay too many hours on it. And so far? The Beta has shown that the hype is real. There were some kinks (like the shotgun being overpowered but it is now being nerfed or the maps being a tad too small or Rush being a bit harsh to play) to be ironed out, but so far, it's looking really good. But this is tank-net, no? So, let's have a look at the tanks in the game. M1A2 SEP v3 This one is supposed to be used both by the US Forces and by the Egyptian Army (namely an in-game unit called the Desert Locusts, apparently modeled after the real-life El-Sa'ka Forces). Curiously it's a M1A2 SEP v3 instead of the M1A1SA. Some of the leaks from Battlefield Labs beta testers also show a Trophy upgrade and camo netting as well as some sort of weird spaced armor with bulldozer blade. M3A3 Bradley Not a M2A3 or M2A4 but a M3A3. CV90 MkIV The premise of BF6 is that NATO is breaking up (with France pulling out, probably as a result of the nuclear bombing seen in BF3) and Europe is being consumed by increasingly powerful PMCs with antigovernmental agendas, the biggest one being Pax Armata (interestingly, this is also the time period where Henry Blackburn, the main character from BF3, is also building up his own PMC which will turn into Arkangel Corporation's private forces, one of the major actors in the much-maligned BF2042). So, goodbye T90s and BMPs and hello European vehicles like the CV90 MkIV (which looks a LOT like the one showcased at Eurosatory 2024, but in the game, it's labeled "STRF 09 A4") aaaaand: Leopard 2 "MBT Technologieträger" This one is a big surprise, because I was expecting either a Leclerc, a Leopard 2A5 or a 2A7. Maybe even a 2A8 if the upgrade path included the Trophy package shown at Eurosatory 2024, to mirror a possible Trophy upgrade for the M1A2 to keep both sides balanced. But no, instead we are treated to this rare tech demonstrator called the MBT Technologieträger, which succeeded Rheinmetall's Leopard 2 Revolution kit (itself a further development of the Leopard 2 Evolution whose AMAP-B armor pack had been originally designed by IBD Deisenroth before the whole thing was transferred to Rheinmetall). No country, as far as I know, ever adopted the Revolution. Indonesia did upgrade ~60 of their Leo 2s to the Revolution standard a few years ago (thus spawning the Leopard 2RI) but the turrets don't have the AMAP-ADS radars or the ROSY smoke grenade launchers and IIRC they look a lot like the Leo 2PL. NGL for a few seconds, I thought we were getting a Revolution (which would've been a nice name to go along with the theme of huge armed change across Europe), but the gun barrel is 55 calibers long instead of 44 calibers and it has the AMAP-ADS sensors on the turret sides, so it's indeed the MBT Technologieträger. EDIT: in some leaked BF Labs videos, it's actually labeled "Leopard 2A4". Also has the weird spaced armor and dozer blade in the Abrams upgrade list. Flakpanzer Gepard: Note that this one has twin missile launchers mounted beside each Oerlikon gun, an upgrade that was tested in the 1980s but was passed over due to budgetary issues. Mr King Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 My friends that all play COD are excited for the new Battlefield. They played the free weekends and all had a good impression of the game. One of their gripes about COD besides the rampant cheating was they were turning it into Fortnight with the dumb skins and such. So far it looks like the new Battlefield is not going down that route.
