Bichri001 Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Would it in theory be possible to simply upgrade the F-4 to be capable of JDAM usage? I see that Turkey and Greece still use upgraded F-4s. Greece version has the F/A-18 radar, it can use the AN/AAQ-28 Litening targeting pod and was upgraded to use AIM-120s and the entire family of the Paveway (I, II and III) laser-guided bombs. But why not the JDAMs? I mean, the AN/AAQ-28 Litening targeting pod can read the GPC coordinates. My guess is that you just need a special pylon capable of writting/inputting the GPS coordinates and other parameters into the JDAM. And of course maybe a new chip, datalink or a software upgrade to process that data.
Stuart Galbraith Posted April 18 Posted April 18 If you can update an A10 to use GPS guided bombs, then you can pretty much update anything.
