Ivanhoe Posted April 7 Posted April 7 https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/04/06/russian-spy-sensors-hidden-uk-waters/ Quote Russian sensors suspected of trying to spy on British nuclear submarines are reported to have been found hidden in the seas around the UK. The British military made the discovery after a number of them washed ashore and were located by the Royal Navy. They are being seen as a potential threat to national security. The situation has not previously been made public but it has been reported in The Sunday Times that Moscow was looking to try and collect intelligence on the UK’s four Vanguard submarines, which carry nuclear missiles. Kind of maddening that we don't know the total number of hydrophones, nor where they were placed.
Ssnake Posted April 7 Posted April 7 It's almost as if the Russians copied the US and UK Underwater Reconnaissance playbook.
Stuart Galbraith Posted April 7 Posted April 7 They have been reportedly placing lots of them around their naval bases, presumably to stop our boats snooping. OTOH they clearly dont work very well if they are being washed ashore. Im more concerned about reports they have been placing ROV's near our transatlantic communications cables.

Stuart Galbraith Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Thanks, that was really interesting. One wonders if the reason why they were not monitoring the US East Coast was the Walker Spy ring...
