In 2018, right-leaning watchdog group Judicial Watch obtained documents through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit that revealed that the East West Management Institute had received taxpayer dollars through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of a nearly $9 million campaign in Albania. Judicial Watch alleged that the money was reportedly used to give the socialist government of Albania greater control over the nation’s judicia system. Judicial Watch also alleged that the Open Society Foundations of left-wing billionaire George Soros was given direct access to the State Department’s decision making process on its use of taxpayer funds in Albania, with it being further noted that representatives from the Open Society Foundations were frequently asked to help assess grant applications submitted to the State Department.

Weird how executive-branch power over the judiciary is a Good Thing in Albania.

In March 2023, USAID set aside up to $1 million to help disabled people in Tajikistan become "climate leaders." The grant notice solicited proposals for a "Disability-Inclusive Climate Action" project in the Central Asian country that would ensure that disabled Tajikistanis are included "in the development of climate change response and mitigation policies."

If there is one thing that Tajikistan needs, it is disabled climate change activists.

Historians will look back and hypothesize that the collapse of the 21st century Progressive movement happened because a bunch of preverts pawed through Melania's underwear drawer.

The outfit, while stylish, doesn't suggest any kind of warmth or even approachability.  Not bubbly, coquettish affability nor elation for her husband's victory.

That suit said one thing to me: she is all business this time around. Full St. Olga of Kiev (iykyk). It's like we southerners and our ability to say "f*ck you" while politely complimenting your cooking.

Or maybe more:

Btw, there should be a new party game called "is it a USAID program or not?"  You'll have these cards with the names of differently programs, some real, some not.

"Ok, we got 'Establishing Sustainable Lesbian Cartooning  Courses for the Disabled in Suriname.'  Real or not?"

Or maybe like a Mad Libs book. Or those make your own poetry refridgerator magnets.

Halfway through the game and so far the only things that stood out are Willem Dafoe playing ping pong, and Eugene Levy's mutant eyebrows

More than 4,000 people availed of the government's employment-verification system using Social Security numbers belonging to people over the age of 112. Trouble is fewer than 40 people are known to have reached that age. That's one of the revelations from a review by the watchdog for the Social Security Administration.

Quote

The review noted that in one case a man opened bank accounts using several different Social Security numbers — two of which belonged to number-holders born in 1869 and 1893, respectively. That would make one of them 145 years old and the other 121. The Social Security Administration's system indicated that both number-holders were alive.

This isn’t exactly the kind of story the IRS wants buzzing around at tax time. The IRS and Justice Department normally want 'scared straight' stories just before Tax Day. Ideally, when an indictment or conviction for tax evasion hits the news, it makes you think twice. Somehow, you think just a bit more about all those deductions, or if you really reported all your income, before you sign your return under penalties of perjury.

Instead, we have the top dog at the IRS, the IRS Commissioner himself, admitting that, well, there’s a problem with illegal immigrants and taxes. In fact, the top IRS official this time wasn’t talking about how the IRS wipes some hard drives or can’t find emails. He wasn’t even asking for a bigger budget to give bonuses to IRS employees.

This time, he was talking about illegal immigrants, and about the IRS turning a blind eye. Or maybe worse. The IRS actually wants illegal immigrants to illegally use Social Security numbers, he suggested. IRS Commissioner John Koskinen made the surprising statement in response to a question from Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., at a Senate Finance Committee meeting.

Had to go to the Wayback Machine because TIGTA memory-holed it;

The thing about auditing the federal government, particularly the IRS, is that the data are so jacked that I'm skeptical its humanly possible to balance the books to the level of a publicly-traded corporation. Might get close with DOD, but IRS etc. probably going to be way off.

The Department of Veterans Affairs canceled $178,000 in subscriptions to Politico Pro, VA Secretary Doug Collins announced Monday.

Collins announced the move on X, saying his office had only recently become aware of the contract. The cancelation comes after President Donald Trump's administration revealed that the federal government had paid over $8 million to Politico in subscription fees in recent years.

I am eager to read how a Politico Pro subscription benefits prior service Americans with bad backs, knees, etc.

It's my understanding that the IRS (and many other's tax agencies) simply does not care how you earn your money so long as you report it.  You could say that you're profession is gangster and that your income is from selling heroin to children and murder-for-hire and the tax man doesn't care and won't tell.  Not that most criminals pay what they owe in taxes anyway.

That is correct, but they're supposed to assign an ITIN I believe. Encouraging SSN re-use/theft is all sorts of no good.

This SSN re-use/theft thing is, I think, going to make an IRS audit fail. All DOGE can do is to identify SSN misuse, present stats on it, and let the IG and maybe DOJ have a chat with the IRS personnel involved. If examples are made, the agency will be on the path to accounting righteousness.

the IRS criminal investigative services is a division within the IRS which investigates ill gotten proceeds

they care

which is not to say the process cannot theoretically be corrupted

but they certainly do investigate and seek to refer for prosecution like any other law enforcement agency

the problem for criminals is introducing money from illegal schemes back into the legitimate economy- no one can report illegal proceeds to the IRS for that reason even if they wanted to

so the owners of the funds will attempt any manner to launder funds through layering and integrating funds in order to circulate them through known patterns of setting up legal vehicles (trusts and shell companies), moving them through NGOs and charities, purchasing and selling artwork, mixing them with legitimate funds through front companies and legitimate business to complicate any clear nexus from the source and destination of funds

much of the public is just now seeing this crap because of the way that it is this government aid agency, specific politicians and government officers and government organizations or the 'deep state' itself doing this sort of thing with this story

Plenty of local shitlibs (media, NGOs etc.) here in Poland are also whining about being cut off from USAID funds, marvelous.
