Listening to you rant about deep states, swamps and mythical Democrat puppetmasters. Overpromoting and overpaying mediocrity seldom figured, unless you were talking about Obama.

What do you think DEI is about? Someone being promoted because they looked like he right sort of people but not because of any merit.

So you HAVE been paying attention but you've not understood a bit of it. Figures.

Imagine this, a whole brigade of Fire Fighters, who are wheel chair bound, can't go up stairs, climb fire trucks or ladders or do anything else substantial but look good for photo ops, but hte'yre all hired as fire fighters, on the pay roll and need special vehicles with doors and lifts to get into/out of the trucks and who can't do 1/4 of the tasks a normal person can do.

That's where your Diversity mentality is headed.

Wind speeds reached 100 mph. At that velocity fire fighting become impossible because all aircraft are grounded, vehicle get toppled, and fire fighter are thrown from their feet.

And let us nay forget that intense fires will also create strong winds as they suck in oxygen==As I recall when Hamburg got bombed, the winds were greater than hurricane force once the firestorm started.

Watched Greek News with my mom and the coverage was sparse: a few minutes of folks who lost their homes in Altadena, a totally distorted comment on what Trump said but most about an architect who was proposing a  fireproof building. All the other stuff: unprepared and dubiously competent authorities,  no water pressure, empty reservoirs, etc was totally overlooked

Hopefully no flareups.

We are headed into Harrison Bergeron territory. By design.

The reconstruction will have lots of problems. Lawsuits, permit issues, delays, corruption.

Isn’t that LA’s normal operating mode?

I think it will be worse with the razing of whole neighbourhoods.

You are Al. That isn't hard to understand, Ryan. You're Al now.

The scale of it will affect a lot more people than normal, and most of those may not have had to deal with the increasing regulatory burdens recently. So it will be interesting to see if the inevitable outcry will be sufficient to force Newsom et al to force the bureaucrats to bend the rules to allow faster reconstruction, or if the rules will be bent only for the higher echelons of celebrity and money, as it usually the case.

In any case, look for the exodus from California to accelerate.

Do you want to bend the rules in that case? A lot of the Ocean view houses were already under threat by erosion and rebuilding the area with wooden houses, probably larger and even closer together, is just a recipe to replicate this disaster.

No doubt the impeccably DEI compliant zoning bureaucrats will be disinclined to allow any human resettlement at all, but on the other hand when George Clooney (or someone else in that category) gets told that his permit is not immediately forthcoming, he will be on the horn to Gavin Newsom and an exception will certainly be made.

The question is if the merely ordinary wealthy folks nearby will be able to avail themselves of similar indulgence. This is less clear.

"Exceptions Being Made " is why our tax code is so damned huge.

Look for more Tony Stark Mega mansions made out of Stucco covered, foam and plywood. They'll look fireproof, but will not be.

Anti-Israel activists and commentators in the US blame Israel for the wildfire crisis in Los Angeles.

Code Pink, a far-left activist group, says on Instagram, “When US taxes go to burning people alive in Gaza, we can’t be surprised when those fires come home.”

The New York branch of the anti-Zionist Jewish Voice for Peace, in a post about the fires, says, “Instead of putting resources toward making our country livable, our government is putting billions toward Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.”

Fatima Mohammed, a leader of the hardline anti-Israel group Within Our Lifetime, posts an image of the fires and says, “The flames of Gaza will not stop there.”

“Dropping hundreds of thousands of bombs on Gaza, turning it into a blazing inferno, has consequences,” she says. “There are climate consequences that will find us all.”

Commentator Mehdi Hasan also links US military aid to Israel to the LA fire department’s budget.

Inevitable, I suppose.
