He totally stole the show in Tombstone.

Looking at his filmography, in the first half of his career, there are a lot of movies ranked 7/10 or higher;

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000174/

I thought he did a very good job in The Ghost and the Darkness. Likewise with The Saint, though he couldn't fix that script.

I've always meant to try watching The Salton Sea but that flick just never bubbles up to the top of the list.

The Salton Sea is decent. His interpretation of John Holmes in Wonderland is very good.

Doc Holliday is his marque role. His Jim Morrison is not talked about enough, I need to rewatch The Doors.

And Top Secret, of course!

Goes without saying!

Its a fun movie, and its amusing that he checked off the comedy box before the action and romance boxes.

"Kilmer was cast after the directors saw him in a play called Slab Boys with Sean Penn and Kevin Bacon. He turned up to the audition dressed like Elvis Presley."

Interestingly, he was forced to do Top Gun: Val Kilmer did not want to be in this movie, but was forced to by contractual obligations. Tony Scott reassured him, "I know that the script is insufficient, but it will get better, Val. Wait until you see these jets. They take your breath away." Kilmer ended up liking the movie, saying, "All in all, [it] was both a blast and an education."

I'll be 90 years old and still laughing at this one.

My brother and I love reenacting the scene where Chocolate Mousse drinks gasoline.

He was also in Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, a criminally underappreciated film in my view.

Maybe not criminally underappreciated, but yeah, I liked it.

Just heard that Rick Harrison, of Pawn Stars fame, dropped dead in the courtroom upon hearing his sentence of 15 years in the federal pen without parole in the tax evasion/trafficking in stolen goods/looting historic artifacts case.

It seems this is entirely untrue.  He hasn't been tried for any crimes and has neither been sentenced nor has he died.

My sympathies, Nick.  As Stuart said, anniversaries can be difficult.
