Because to you, nothing is sacred. You don’t even have pride in England or being English. You’re too woke to care.

I quite remember a exchange on "third sexes" in which someone did seem to build a rage.

So he has a hentai kink?  *Shrug*

I mean I suppose gothy cat girls are fetching and cute, but the cat part is just window dressing. A cute 25 year old with some nice ink and modest piercings, sure cute as hell. I’d be just as opposed to any sort of cosmetic surgery to 12 year olds. Same as tattoos and any sort of dramatic piercings. For a 12 year old. If they are too young for a full sleeve tattoo they’re too young for a decision on a double mastectomy and a fallo-plasty

I guess Stuart doesn’t understand that trans gender surgery for kids is more radical than islamic clitorectomies and other brutal surgeries.

It's on in the background for me as I'll always watch sports if there's any on TV, but unless a major event is on (such as today's Team USA basketball game) I'm not really paying attention.  Like it's been for decades now if you want the best stuff, and live, you have to pay/stream to get those.  I heard the cost isn't that much this year but I don't have the time.

The Olympics used to be a big deal in my household.  Apparently some extended family were major US players in a smaller sport back in the 80s.  But... with what the games have become (too expensive and burdensome for the host nations) and considering the sports represented (some just... why?) it's lost a lot of its luster.

Oh, and I thought this was somewhat amusing. Maybe a comment about not bringing politics into sport.

So what? It is not something new

Ukrainian athletes were allowed not to shake hands with Russians at the Olympics
The president of the NOC of Ukraine, Vadim Gutzeit, said that this was allegedly done to avoid "provocations" against Ukrainians. According to him, the agreement was reached with the participation of international sports federations in those sports where a mandatory handshake is expected.

A year ago, the International Fencing Federation removed Ukrainian Olga Harlan for refusing to shake hands with Russian Anna Smirnova after winning the 1/32 finals of the World Championship. After this incident, the FIE relaxed the rules, eliminating the requirement for a mandatory handshake at the end of the match.

I'd watch if we could get a repeat of the 1956 Hungary vs USSR water polo match with a Ukraine vs Russia match.

I think Russia is not participating.

Some of its athletes are under a neutral banner (if you see AIN for a country those are Russian or Belarusian Olympians).  Only 32 of them competing, according to internet searchers, though.

Yep.  No team sports, just individual Russian and Belarus athletes.

The actual funny thing is the outrage by the woke left over the criticism of the ceremony. Obviously what they did is protected by the freedom of art and the freedom of opinion, but so is the criticism.

Agree 100%. The other day I watched table-tennis. After the matches, they... touched... eachother. Horrible.

Its possible to find the ceremony over the top and in cases shambolic, and find  the attempt to inject culture war and perceive it along politically loaded lines as patently  absurd. That kind of reminds me of hippies trying to find reference to cannabis use and the counterculture in The Lord of the Rings (and yes, they did try).

The correct position to take is indifference. Its France, so of course they try to show off how different they are to anyone else. Why, im kind of surprised they didnt stage a riot of Gilet Jaunes, just to display contemporary France.

Sometimes a fat guy wearing a dress, is just a fat guy wearing a dress. There is no need to overthink it.

“Clearly there was never an intention to show disrespect to any religious group. [The opening ceremony] tried to celebrate community tolerance,” the Paris 2024 spokesperson Anne Descamps told a press conference. “We believe this ambition was achieved. If people have taken any offence we are really sorry.”

Clearly there was, those degenerates.

Yep. If not, then there should have been resignations, and cancellations.

People of the wrong thinking ilk have been forced to resign, or cancelled by far less. Even a Nobel prize winner.

Yes, it is very edgy, and "safe" at the same time.

I've noticed an obvious trend with the Hollywood movies and pop-culture in general: can you even remember the last time a character in a triple A video game or big budget movie being portrayed as a genuine Christian and not as completely evil and hypocritical?

I can only think of Joshua Graham, from Fallout: New Vegas.

It was a literal play on the last supper with people in drag. It was deliberate and obvious symbolism.
