Detonable Posted November 3 Posted November 3 The inflation was in part due to the Federal Reserve letting the money supply get out of control. So it would have started regardless of whomever won the election. However, inflation is (amount of money in the system)/(goods produced). The regulations imposed on the oil and gas industry cut production of not just gasoline and diesel but also downstream products like polymers, fertilizer, rubber, etc. Industries such as steel and glass which used inexpensive natural gas were also hit. So a large part of it was due to the Biden administration. Also the extra spending from the “inflation reduction act “ pumped more money into an economy with too much already. Since the US was probably the world’s largest producer of oil and gas reducing US production would have world wide impact. Compare the price of oil before and after Biden took office.
Ivanhoe Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Some pundits are predicting that Trump will oust the Federal Reserve chair. Seems very possible, both due to Powell's partisanship and for payback on some of the Fed's bungling.
Ivanhoe Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Kamala voter; https://www.zerohedge.com/political/illegal-immigrant-sexually-assaults-4-minors-new-orleans-suburb Quote The latest crime reported by the Kenner Police Department on Oct. 29 involved a 17-year-old old illegal immigrant who was arrested for sex crimes involving two minors in the city. Two additional minors were also found to be abused, Police Capt. Mike Cunningham told The Epoch Times on Oct. 30. Luis Renan Bonilla-Alfaro allegedly inappropriately touched four minors aged 4 to 13 and performed sexual acts with them in a trailer park. Bonilla-Alfaro confessed and admitted that he filmed the acts with the minors. Kenner Police found sexually explicit videos on his phone of him and the minors. “We have identified two additional victims, one of whom was the unidentified we found on [the] suspect’s phone,” said Cunningham. “A total of four victims, all under the age of 13, all males.”

Ivanhoe Posted November 8 Posted November 8 The cycle continues. Boomers had contempt for the Depression generation, GenX had contempt for Boomers, Millennials have contempt for GenX, etc. Just as the 1960s featured an idiotic fixation on Boomer youth culture, the 2000s featured an idiotic fixation on GenX youth culture, lather rinse repeat. What seems to be a sea change is the level of narcissism and fragility of GenY and GenZ. https://pjmedia.com/megan-fox/2024/11/07/genx-delivered-for-trump-and-theyre-not-afraid-to-tell-you-why-n4934064
rmgill Posted November 8 Author Posted November 8 Three of us have posted that article now... It seems to be resonant.
Tim the Tank Nut Posted November 8 Posted November 8 after seeing it posted three times I made time to read it. It resonates because it is on target. A very good piece, somebody should link it up a fourth time... Is it just me or are we all enjoying this a very large amount?

urbanoid Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Or maybe they just had a compulsive need to name it, in the name of ordnung? Btw. there is an English word for that.

DKTanker Posted November 9 Posted November 9 If you're feeling guilty because of your schadenfreude (I'm not) then you're experiencing glaukenstucken. At least according to Rose that's what you're experiencing.

Mr King Posted November 9 Posted November 9 This lady reminds me of about every academic I have ever encountered. A mix of midwit retardation and arrogance. Quote the online profile of a retired political science academic, recorded a video just before the election where she mocks a store clerk for disagreeing with her credentialed analysis that Kamala Harris would win in a landslide.

I'm surprised she walked home. With a laugh like that I presumed she would mount her broom. 2. Political Science Academic -- another reason why in many cases a college degree is not needed and why it is so unnecessarily expensive. Edited November 9 by Rick

sunday Posted November 10 Posted November 10 There is no paywall for this https://www.newsweek.com/i-worked-democrats-years-billionaires-have-unfettered-influence-opinion-1961471 Quote I Worked for Democrats for Years. Billionaires Have Unfettered Influence | Opinion Published Oct 06, 2024 at 2:55 PM EDT Updated Oct 07, 2024 at 10:39 AM EDT During the summer of 2020, I worked as a consultant for multiple progressive DA candidates backed by George Soros and his foundation. In the places where they won, these DAs have since done immeasurable damage to the local communities. They failed to prosecute offenders, especially surrounding drug use and distribution, and allowed crime to run rampant, hurting communities of color the most—the very people they were supposedly trying to help. Far from progressive, these Soros-backed DAs did more to hurt progressives than anything the Right has managed; to everyday Americans, the term "progressive" now conjures up images of fentanyl overdoses, crime, defecation in the streets, and riots. I feel remorse for the work I did on these campaigns. The Soros money that was contributed to progressive DA races would have been better spent on supportive housing, mental health services, and recovery programs. Police need resources to arrest and imprison drug dealers and end open-air drug use. This is just common sense. Unfortunately, the Soroses are just the tip of the iceberg. (...) Are the Ds the party of oligarchs now?
