About how many people that you know you're fully confident that they are capable of explaining in full how nuclear decay makes their living room bright in the evening? One in five? Fewer? More?

If you have very little idea how all that really works, "it's magic" is a valid approach. Let's you appreciate all these things without understanding them. Maybe it would also make you curious ... but then again, if you care more about the people near to you than about things, I guess it's fair enough to concentrate your mental acuity on interpersonal relations.

We don't have to wonder. We just have to look at Kamala and one of her word salad answers. For the better ones it's Magic. For the more silly ones, its something akin to hatred for modern technology and silly nostalgia for when we had less useful technology.

To one degee, that doesn't really matter. 

Can you explain how single mode fiber sends signals further than multimode fiber without looking it up? Entirely relevant to the grate site but not necessary for running it.
