Ivanhoe Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Some pushback from Biden; Not a good look for Harris right before the election, but then she's never successfully won a contested election before.

How does a guy who was in the military not know how to load a basic shotgun. Also, do they really still believe at this point trotting out a commie in an orange vest and shotgun wins over anyone who takes the 2nd amendment seriously?
R011 Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 I've never loaded a shotgun. I'd need to be shown and could likely do it with minimal instruction. I would probably practice a bit before I showed off to the public, though, or not bothered at all.

IMHO, it is looking like the DNC is sorta "calling it in" for 2024, and instead prepping for 2028. That would explain why Harris took a shot at DeSantis recently.
R011 Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Complacency, like 2016. Trump's a bit weaker candidate than he was then too, and there are a couple of hot buttons the Democrats have been pushing (abortion and January 6) that might help them. Three more weeks to see if that's enough for them.
Skywalkre Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 (edited) Eh, more like the McCain back w/ Palin. Harris went with Walz because of 'her gut feeling' and in hindsight that was probably a mistake (like Palin back in '08). While usually a VP pick is almost meaningless as close as this race is it could be a deciding factor. I heard at least one pundit this weekend say inside sources are now wishing they had gone with Shapiro instead. As for complacency, some have questioned Trump's moves to campaign in solidly blue states. According to sources he legit thinks he has a shot at winning the popular vote and is doing these rallies to help that. Kind of reminiscent of Hillary in '16 who thought she had a knockout and started campaigning everywhere when her base wasn't as solid as she thought. The notion that Ds are throwing it in is... bizarre. They're certainly concerned but they have a massive money advantage in this home stretch. Basically the question all Ds are asking is "how is it this close?!" From listening to the pundits I think all the experts are missing how bloody depressed the average voter is and just tired of both camps. I was always calling a drop in turnout... after listening to the latest round tables this weekend I'm thinking that drop off will be even bigger, possibly down to 90s levels of turnout. Your average American is suffering... and neither side really cares. Edited October 15, 2024 by Skywalkre

Even after seeing someone doing it in a documentary, movie or videogame? It is not so difficult to operate that big lever, methinks. Amazing...
bojan Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Dukakis is at the loader's position, IIRC lowest hierarchically in US tank ( @DKTanker correct if I am wrong? ), Elisabeth was in the TC position. OTOH, it might be also interpreted that he came to do a hard, unglamorous but necessarily job, while she was just put there by being born.

It wasn't a double barrel shotgun, it was a Beretta A400, a posh autoloading shotgun. I understand the A400 has a loading sequence that is rather unique. I don't know what it is, I don't own one. Apparently neither does Tim. It looks like Tim and his entourage stopped by Bass Pro Shops to get all new clothing and hardware and a salesman told them yes, the $2000 Beretta would definitely bring down more pheasants than any $500 Remington 870. Timmy should have gone with the 870. It has an outstanding 75 year reputation and is the ultimate working man's shotgun for those who grew up middle class It's also used by militaries and law enforcement agencies around the world. Some 50 years ago I was given my first when I was 14 years old. Very simple to load and as with all pump action shotguns, has that distinctive pump action sound which has made home intruders wet themselves and causes pheasants to fall from the sky.

Moreover, while I'm sure everybody involved was concerned about his safety, the CVC is not a good look on anybody. Apparently this was known by all, General Dynamics insisted it was needed for high speed runs. Those runs would have happened at some distance from the cameras and likely have been no problem. However, Michael Dukakis was so safety conscience that he wouldn't back his car out of the garage without putting on his seatbelt, insisted on wearing the CVC for the entire event. Thus for the close up shots with the press he's wearing the CVC and looking like a dufus.

Mr King Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Supposedly a man is coming out of the woodwork to accuse Waltz of grooming and molesting him as a kid. I imagine even if it is true it will be swept under the rug like Tara Reade's allegations against Biden.
Tim the Tank Nut Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 regarding the lady in the tank from Sunday's post: the biggest difference is that it was her tank, she can do what she wants with it (obscure TANK reference enclosed)

And, if you have a new firearm, if you are a gun person as Tim supposedly is, you take the time to learn the manual of arms BEFORE you go do something with it. Tim Walz is a NoGo. You’d think a senior NCO would grasp that. One wonders what sort of NCO he was.
Tim the Tank Nut Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 no need to wonder, he demostrates what sort of person all the time.

Maybe just a tacky 90's / early 2000's tattoo or something deeper
Tim the Tank Nut Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 if you think the Biden family is the only Democrat asset that the Chinese own then I have a series of bridges to sell you. The Chinese have infiltrated everywhere they can. It's just that the Democrats are a little easier to buy as they have the same ideology as the CCP. The Republican operatives for China ususally have to be co-erced with more money and/or blackmail. One of the reasons that I love Donald Trump is that he's willing to pay a porn star rather that take up the offer of infinite Chinese honey (because the bill for that is MUCH higher).
