Sen. Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R., N.Y.) launched a probe into Vice President Kamala Harris's national security adviser over his ties to an Iranian government influence network, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

In a Wednesday letter to Harris, Cotton and Stefanik asked the presumptive Democratic nominee to provide information about her adviser Phil Gordon's "connections to Ms. Ariane Tabatabai, a senior Department of Defense official who was reportedly involved in an Iranian government operation to expand Tehran's soft power in the United States."

Gordon, the letter notes, coauthored at least three opinion pieces with Tabatabai that argued against sanctions on the Iranian regime. Tabatabai was outed last year as an alleged member of an Iranian-run influence network that reported back to Tehran's foreign ministry.

This sort of thing shouldn't surprise anybody.

The Obama/Biden administrations have been pro-Iran, anti-Israel.

Quote

"The Biden-Harris Administration is no stranger to Iran accommodators, appeasers, and accomplices," Cotton and Stefanik wrote. "Ms. Tabatabai remains gainfully employed in the Defense Department, helping oversee sensitive special operations. The FBI is investigating your former Special Envoy for Iran Robert Malley for passing classified intelligence to Tehran and your Special Envoy Amos Hochstein allegedly passed intelligence about Israeli airstrikes to Hezbollah potentially as recently as this weekend."

I have seen snippets of interviews with Pete Buttigieg, and I can understand why people like him. Would the US be ready for an openly homosexual person to be VP?

He's personable. But he's utterly incompetent. He couldn't fill potholes in the town he was mayor of. How he was posted to Sec Trans is beyond me, unless you just look at the intersectional vote.

I think you'd be hard pressed to sho where he's fixed anything in Federal DOT. Conversely when he and his husband went on 'paternity' leave for their 2 adopted kids, he was gone for a month before anyone realized he was gone. There was no announcement. At best, he's an empty desk/suit.

I personally don't care if someone is gay or not, so long as it's not the grand scope of their entire persona because they wear it like a football costume at the super-bowl (facepaint, no shirt, swag). Are they competent at their job? Great. Are they not? No? I don't care what their sexuality is, they're incompetent. If however their gayness is WHY they must be in the post because of diversity and that's the only qualifier, all I can ask is really? That's where we are?

So, Kamala is trying to rebrand as a border hawk. I wonder how that's going to work even with the media trying to use more gaslighting than Victorian London...

Recall that he was getting a decent percentage of votes during the 2020 primary. A dept Secretary position was surely offered as a bribe to get him to quit the race early. Where do you slot someone with no relevant abilities? Transportation.

Kamala took some lessons from Hillary and found her black accent. I wonder if Kamala is going to also pull out a bottle of hot sauce while being interviewed by black radio hosts to help clinch the black vote.

She'll probably pull something made in New York City.

Probably just as well as Trump branding himself the best president for the black community since Lincoln.

Pandering is what presidential candidates do, to varying levels of success. Trump claims to be a Christian anti abortion Republican, despite provably not being two of those things two decades ago.

He won Iowa and got second in New Hampshire but then got absolutely buried in South Carolina.  He was facing Super Tuesday against opponents with lots of money to spend and his own campaign running out of funds.  His campaign was dead in the water, and for various reasons (donors wanting moderates to coalesce so Bernie didn't win, wanting to stay in good graces with D establishment, etc.) he dropped out of the race.

Trump should totally affect a black accent at his next rally.

I seem to remember Al Gore channeling his inner black minister at one time also.

I've known black people who grew up in suburbs who don't typically talk "black" lay on the inner city vibe when they are with other blacks.

I've known city people to use a southern or country accent when around those groups.

Oh that would be fun.

Tell me, what does a black accent sound like?

African American vernacular is derivative of Cornish English.

Never been around black Americans? That's not surprising.

Here is a good video demonstrating the common difference between the accent of whites and blacks.

I lived three of five boros; I’m familiar with most every accent. Though I admit to difficulty discerning Saudis from Russians at the strip club for reasons I cannot fathom.

All that and I still need to explain to you one of the most common accents in America.

Known as "code switching." There's a whole academic sub-industry of linguists and sociologists writing about it. Most writings about code switching make it sound like its caused by systemic racism. To wit;
