I've just found this video on the "suggested for you" feed.

Part of India's push for self-reliance in the production of AFV's.

With a 59 tank order, it would be idiotic to suggest they do otherwise. If the numbers rise, they will indigenise.

You gotta start somewhere, right? Get to OEM level work on modern technologies, then progress to domestic production.

Does India have OEM-level work capability on its existing, older MBTs?

Indian Light Tank successfully completes high-altitude firing trials

India's indigenous light tank has achieved a "major milestone" by firing a number of rounds at different ranges at an altitude of more than 4,200 metres with consistent accuracy, the defence ministry said on Thursday. The highly versatile 25-tonne class Indian Light Tank (ILT) has been developed to boost the Army's combat capabilities along the frontier with China.

At 4,200 meters you will not find locations for skiing in Europe, let alone a road...
