No clue how many. If it’s a few they’ll be shot down. If it’s 100 or 200 along with ballistic missile launches meant to overwhelm Israeli defenses, that’s another story

Why, having second thoughts? :D

Well, i am writing from town that is daily targeted by drones (luckily most of them interceptyed), capital of country with world's largest nuclear arsenal, i wonder why drone strike on a country with toital population  about 2/3 of Moscow alone will cause WWIII.

Why would shooting an Austrian start the first one? There is so much loose powder in the world today, all it takes is a spark in the wrong place.

In lighter vein...

A senior U.S. official told ABC News they now think there will be anywhere from 400 to 500 drones and missiles launched at Israel from Iraq, Syria, southern Lebanon and the Houthis but that the bulk will be launched form Iran.

Because what happens in the Middle East tends to draw in the superpowers like the US, Russia, and China.  And never on the same side.

Russia? No more, as Russian Jews lobby is busy with more important business recently....

Pro-Rus take on recent events

"Let's put it bluntly: many people were waiting for what was happening tonight (the other part was waiting for China vs Taiwan).

Nevertheless, one should not be deceived: given all the previous experience of the confrontation between Iran and Israel, given the deliberate nature of luring Iran into a big mess (recall that the Israeli ultra-orthodox wanted this - they need war), given how Iran and the United States have been playing giveaway lately, the probability of a war to the bitter end is low.

Remember the most important rule: when someone goes to rob a bank, he does not shout about it in advance to the whole street. That is why what is happening resembles a coordinated performance.

But what is most likely in such a scenario is the response on Lebanon and Syria. Moreover, air defense systems and air defense facilities have been consistently destroyed in Syria for six months under the auspices of the fight against Iran. Therefore, now the Israelis have all the cards in their hands in order to respond asymmetrically to the Iranian attacks (from which there is unlikely to be any harm)." USA is in retreat. Starting with self hating political-journalist complex . So we will have many wars - maybe contiguos and sequential wars - Taiwan etc -  until the power balance will be reestablished with a weaker USA.

British commandos have seized an Iranian tanker carrying oil that the UK believes was intended for delivery to Syria, in violation of both the EU sanctions on Syrian imports and the U.S. sanctions on Iranian exports.

The Iranian-controlled VLCC Grace 1 departed the Persian Gulf in March, then transited around the Cape of Good Hope to the Atlantic - not through the Suez Canal (which she would be too large to pass). She then made for the Mediterranean via the Strait of Gibraltar. On Thursday morning, upon a request for assistance from the government of Gibraltar, a team of 30 Royal Marines from 42 Commando roped onto the deck of the tanker when she entered the British territory's waters.

UK foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt congratulated the boarding team for its success. "Their swift action has denied valuable resources to [Syrian president Bashar al Assad]’s murderous regime," Hunt said.

As predicted. no WWIII happened

"Well, Iran and Israel quickly fought, each side recorded an unconditional victory. And if so, Israel even opened airports. (https://t.me/bbbreaking/179820)

Iran has launched 150 drones and some kind of missiles. And he said that they had hit a secret base in the Negev Desert.

Israel claimed to have shot down everything. And missiles and drones. It is impossible not to note the irony of the situation when drones shot down planes of the Jordanian Air Force.
Muslim brothers will always help a Jew. If both are Washington's allies.

In general, the situation is similar to Iran's strikes on US bases after the assassination of General Suleimani. Iran struck, America said there were no casualties.

There will be no world war, and the Middle East will not break out right now. But then it is necessary. And now the region will finally creep into a long proxy war.

As I wrote yesterday, neither Iran nor Israel have the opportunities and means to fully fight (https://t.me/MedvedevVesti/17295 ). Iran needs to finish the nuclear project and not lose Iraq and Lebanon. And at least Israel will deal with Gaza to the end.
And don't forget China's role in the Middle East.

However, the tangle of regional contradictions does not disappear anywhere. However, the winners in this confrontation will be completely different forces: Gulf Monarchies, Pakistan, China. Well, Russia.

For all the operatic nature of the current situation with strikes, it must be admitted that the United States now looks very unconvincing. Ten years ago, Washington's statement alone would have been enough for no drones to fly anywhere. Or so that Israel does not strike at Syria, at the Iranian diplomatic mission.

And today, all the shouts from Washington, as well as words of support for the allies, look like the grumbling of a grandfather on a bench, who used to be a tough boxer, but is already old, and drinks a lot.

This is the perception of the United States in the world, perhaps, the main result of last night."https://t.me/vysokygovorit/15396 )

The US may come and help but it's very unlikely to be really involved. Biden has already told Netanyahu that he will not support an Israeli retaliation against Iran and the US will not participate in a strike. This means the US is okay with Israel doing its own thing but generally does not want to have anything to do with the middle east in the meantime.

China doesn't want involvement anywhere. It gives Russia some minor support and mainly focuses on Taiwan and Philippines.

Russia is incapable of projecting power anywhere at this point in time.

Which was, though you choose to forget it, then let go when the EU said it was nothing to do with them, whose edict (ironically post Brexit) we were acting on behalf of. Do you remember that?

And besides, that was the BRITISH Government. Not the Israeli. So your justification for Iran using that as a reason for actions against Israel is tenuous at best.

A Twitter/X account linked from the Iranian Foreign Ministry website and associated with Iran's UN Mission to the United Nations spread a message in the evening that Iran's military action was based on Article 51 of the United Nations UN Charter for legitimate defense succeeds. “The matter can be considered closed,” it said, “but if the Israeli regime makes another mistake, Iran’s reaction will be much harsher. “It is a conflict between Iran and the rogue Israeli regime that the US MUST stay away from.”

If this statement, which was obviously deliberately made on record at the UN, stands, the mullahs' regime would have decided on the smallest possible act of retaliation to save face. Then it would once again be just a stage in the campaign against Israel as an outpost of the West.

Is it over already?

Nevatim Airbase was hit by apparently up to 7 ballistic missiles, the video shows 5 hits. As it is rather large base with lots of empty real estate, the damage may be limited. These hits have been filmed from other angles as well. I have not seen many other videos showing impacts elsewhere in Israel, neither pictures of any significant damage nor casualty reports. Bit of an embarrassment for Iran.
