The Tiger 2 manual's schedule for "lubrication and care-points" goes to 5000 km--was this therefore its distance between overhauls?

ISTR watching something that addressed this. It may have been one of The_Chieftain's videos. IIRC, there was a point that the expected travel distance reflected old standard when the industries were not stressed. And that maybe a new expectation couldn't be properly assessed under the war conditions, so perhaps manuals just applied old standards as placeholders. One other factor is the crew. ISTR some WW2 tanks needed careful driving so as to not bust the driving systems. I'm pretty sure KingTiger crews had a degree of rushing in their training, thus not the best of driver's, thus probably making even shorter the driving span of the vehicle.
