Skywalkre Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Umm... that was a census conducted under a Trump administration. I actually think it'd be quite fitting if he lost solely because of miscues like this considering how much he and his followers like to tout how great everything is/was/will be under him. 🤣 Also, that vid is a friendly reminder why non-lawyers shouldn't be talking about stuff like this. The PES appears to be little more than a data and analysis tool and has no impact on redistricting after the census. If this were to somehow come into play and mess with the election it'd only be because sympathetic Trump judges went the activist route (which I thought conservatives were against?).

Even their group identification is vilified, while everyone else's is encouraged. As the vid within that vid highlights I think less than savory folks on the far right are pushing the above. But a better indicator of why things are the way they are with men comes from the notes those who have ended their life leave. Reeves talks about that in the full podcast and the main reason is men, be they young or old, feel unwanted/not needed. There's a host of reasons that go into why this is and both cultural and legal measures will be needed to address it... but to do that you have to admit there's an issue and that's still rare for folks (especially those in power) to acknowledge in the first place.
17thfabn Posted November 5 Author Posted November 5 (edited) The census is four years old. Long past the time for any objections. I would guess that administrations generally don't get deeply involved in the census count. From the Census Bureau: "2020 Census Undercounts in Six States, Overcounts in Eight" Five of the six states that had undercounts are Republican leaning. Six of the eight states that had overcounts are Democrat leaning. "Based on the PES results, can states change their 2020 Census counts? The quick answer is “No.” https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2022/05/2020-census-undercount-overcount-rates-by-state.html Edited November 5 by 17thfabn

And I understand that this is a look at error rates by the Census Bureau. On the other hand it is obvious that certain states would get additional congressional members and some would lose members. And hence lose or gain electoral college votes.
Josh Posted November 5 Posted November 5 (edited) The polls have it at a dead heat. But obviously polls are generally off by a margin of error of 2-3% even in a good year. 2-3% this year would sweep the swing states in either direction. If the race really is close, the Dem ground game is to the Trump outsourced PAC effort what Delta Force is to the Peace Corps. ETA: the Iowa poll is probably way off but it’s cross tabs are super alarming for MAGA. Edited November 5 by Josh

Yeah, the big question has been is this surge in early voting from Rs a sign of Trump getting more supporters... or just the same folks that would have voted on election day in the past? I've always waited to turn in my ballot on election day to see what polls are like. Nowadays they have wait times posted online and I've been checking it all day. Completely empty in a 20-mile radius from where I live. Usually there are rushes in the morning and at night but this morning everywhere was quiet. Our local big paper, the AZ Republic, was predicting a few days ago that turnout this year will be below '20. I had predicted a low turnout across the board but early voting returns in some places coupled to pics of long lines in locations like Philly make me wonder if we'll get a checkerboard effect now - some places way lower, a few way higher.
Yama Posted November 5 Posted November 5 So how's the election day going? All those Venezuelan voting machines rigged good & fired up?
rmgill Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Police are on alert. Senior officers, SWAT, Jump out boys, all on call if not working. Many cities have spaces boarded up in downtowns. National Guard is on Alert. Has been for several days apparently. Some key polling places having issues like bomb threats, gas leaks, etc.

Its a beautiful day in the Midwest. Unseasonably warm. Birds are singing, sun is shinning, perfect amount of clouds in the sky. AMERICA!
Skywalkre Posted November 6 Posted November 6 (edited) The Harris ground game has apparently knocked on 16 million doors in battleground states. Apparently hit 100k yesterday in PA alone. In the same report the Trump campaign was asked and responded "we don't know". I just had my second door knock in three days, both by D canvassers. Thank the Russians for the bomb threats. Apparently half have been attributed to them. Sounds like some districts in GA are being given extended voting hours because of threats per orders from the courts. Edited November 6 by Skywalkre

They have incompetents running the elections. I've seen insane complaints from lefties for decades going back to the Bush years objecting to how Dekalb and Fulton have long lines and poor operations in voting and blaming it on Republicans. Which as you are very aware, don't run the counties in question.

Der Zeitgeist Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Huh, funny how when Republicans win, they don't even need a coup.
seahawk Posted November 6 Posted November 6 What a great victory for Trump. Happy for our US posters.
rmgill Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Whew..... Now to deal with the unrest from the violent left.
