Challenger 2 armor Upgrade dimensions

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

does anyone here know if there are diagramas/schematics for the various Challenger 2 armor upgrade kits somewhere? I want to upgrade my heng long one a little and generally like to design and print the 3d models for such things myself. For that I would need the correct dimensions though.

A quick Google search didn't get me any results and I suspect much of that stuff is not publicly available, but maybe someone did some osint work off of some photos or museum displays?

Also I don't want to google to much, lest I land on some watch list :)

Edit: I should maybe add that I am obviously just looking for diagrams showing the outside, not the actual classified stuff. Mostly for the 2F kit.

About all I have is some diagrams for the armour layout for challenger 1 in 1991 in a very old copy of military modelling. Ive personally not seen anything like that. Might be worth doing a search for challenger 2 on Internet archive and see if anything pops up from an old magazine article. Otherwise Im afraid you are probably SOL.

If you are not wholly wedded to printing your own parts (thats something Id like to try myself some day), accurate armour do some nice upgrade sets. I used it to modify my Challenger 2 into a Basra one some 20 years ago, and they generally make some good stuff.

I thought that might be the case. I'll look around some more... If all else fails I might try to use the War Thunder models for reference, they seem to be quite decent

They do look nice, but I think they are 1/35 only and not 1/16 (I think?). There is a good looking resin printed kit online, but that's over 100€ and that is more than I'm willing to pay. Also the DIY way is a little more rewarding :)

Thanks for the input though!

Ah, yes, there  HAS been a 1-16 scale chobham armour set, as this guy on RC Tank warfare acquired.

Unfortunately it seems to be out of stock currently. But worth watching and seeing if it comes back on sale. Check ebay, someone might put a set up cheap.
