Ivanhoe Posted November 22, 2023 Author Posted November 22, 2023 https://www.niagara-gazette.com/news/local_news/emergency-responders-at-rainbow-bridge-following-car-explosion/article_eb3ffec8-8957-11ee-93e5-cf9e52289455.html Quote Traveling down Niagara Street, the car sped onto the bridge plaza, went through a fence separating the inbound lanes from the outbound lanes, and toward the inspection lanes where it exploded, according to law enforcement sources at the scene. Two occupants of the car were killed in the explosion. A border protection agent was injured but not seriously. He's being treated for non-life threatening injuries at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, sources said. If I'm reading the initial reports correctly, the bomb-car was driving from the US side towards Canada.
BansheeOne Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 It was clearly not a car bomb, but a missile ... 😶
Ivanhoe Posted November 23, 2023 Author Posted November 23, 2023 Gotta give the deceased credit, they really caught some air after they hit that curb. Of course we can't expect knowledge or wisdom from newsies, but what occurred was a deflagration, not a detonation. Very weak form of "explosion" at best.
LT Ducky Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 I’m curious as to why there seems to be no more information on this incident.
EchoFiveMike Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Find out who the deceased was. Driving a Bentley isn't for the proles. I'm guessing drugs, but could also be the "suddenly." S/F...Ken M
Ivanhoe Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 Yeah, I'm expecting driver and probably passenger were getting loaded up on some recreationals before the Kiss concert.
Tim the Tank Nut Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 I didn't see this earlier... the car is the wreck was a Bentley? That's real money. US tagged or Canadian?

Looked like something from The 'A Team' or 'Duke of Hazzard' but without a stunt coordinator.
Murph Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Reports on PJ media indicate that the occupants Kurt P. and Monica Villani were planning on going to a KISS concert. Not sure what else is going on here. One is reported have gotten the flu. FBI no longer interested since they were not Trump voters.

It would take a few hours to positively identify the bodies, though they'd have the car owner's name very quickly. They then have to notify next of kin. They then have to do tox screens and blood work as well as an autopsy on the driver to see if he was imp[aired or had a medical incident. they also might have to do some work to see if this was a mechanical fault. As of this morning, they've been identified by name as 53 year old Western NY residents.
Josh Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 Seems like the driver just made an outrageous, possibly drug motivated, decision when a further search of the vehicle was instructed. Guessing the occupants were high/drunk possibly with more contraband in the car and the driver made a substance influenced snap judgment to try to run. In any case, pretty clear it wasn’t a terrorist trying to smuggle weapons if it’s a Bentley. That’s an old money set of wheels that would buy you a militia’s worth of weapons.
LT Ducky Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 Very interesting turn of events. When I first heard of this on local talk radio Wednesday afternoon everyone was all in on it being Middle East terrorism-related to the point that the FBI was issuing statements and the Governor of New York rushing to the scene. And now it seems that it was a drug-addled multi-millionaire in a high dollar, high performance vehicle avoiding what should have been a routine car search. Strange times we live in….
BansheeOne Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 The "Daily Mail" was quoting the "New York Times" that the owner had allegedly told friends before that there was a problem with the accelerator, and also some sort of alleged expert claiming that a vapor trail behind the car showed the driver was slamming on the brakes. So it might have been some technical problem, or not.
