The fun part is of course that after doing meticulous situation updates on the frontlines in Ukraine for 16 months, they're now tracking the march of Russian mercenaries on Moscow. I'm interpreting the "temple" icons to be Wagner units, and the barrier symbols to be roadblocks by loyalist forces. I',m getting Hammer's Slammers vibes.

urbanoid Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Kadyrov's forces are beginning to report that they will not be able to cut the Wagnerians' path to Moscow or attack them from the flank because they have major... technical problems with the vehicles they have. They were supposed to wear out a lot in Ukraine. Well, they will try. They're on their way to Rostov-on-Don. Just a cabaret.
X-Files Posted June 24, 2023 Author Posted June 24, 2023 (edited) Can't get the direct Telegram link to work, but (oh boy!) a BTR & a truck!!! Armoured vehicles spotted on streets of Rostov after Prigozhin's statement | Ukrainska Pravda Edited June 24, 2023 by X-Files
Stuart Galbraith Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 I never advanced this fast in War in the East 2. Clearly being a Chef gives you x2 mobility rating.
BansheeOne Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 They seem to bypass the roadblocks on the M4. The Anabasis continues.
Stuart Galbraith Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 There is also a video apparently of the Hip being brought down.
Stuart Galbraith Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Another source says they can't go, because their vehicles are worn out from fighting in Ukraine. Or at least, so they claim.
futon Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Maybe the word revolutionary may still be applicable but Wagner's cause is surely just relative to the Ukraine War.. nothing about changing Russian political structure or a cause grounded on an ideology. Regardless, some have speculated that a drawn out Ukraine War could cause a fracture in the Russian chain of command and with a chase after Putin. It appears to have come to it. Although since Russia is already fully committed in the war, what could be done differently under Wagner is hard to see, short of using nuclear weapons on Kyiv controlled cities. So then maybe an effort to get Russia to stop pursuing the war. Maybe Wagner is more troubled by Russian causalties than the Kremlin.
Stuart Galbraith Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 It may be that the syphilis that was one of the reasons Prighozin was jailed for back in the 1980s has left its mark. We may be ascribing higher motives for him than the most likely, he finally snapped and went full retard.

futon Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Putin's message against the rebellion. I'm assuming the translation is good. Certainly looks very serious.
bd1 Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 3 hours ago, BansheeOne said: Well, my reasoning was that "putting down the rebellion" would be a warning and the starting block for cracking down on any criticism that the government is too lax on the aims and prosecution of the war in preparation for an agreement, ceasefire or even retreat from Ukraine. But I fully concede I might very well overthink it, and it's actually a real power struggle, or just Prigozhin's giant ego, or just honest wrath about the situation. After all we've been all conditioned to think in conspiracies over the last two decades, much of it emanating from Russia ... in estonian forum a guy wrote - ´´The handwriting is very similar to the behavior before the aggression of 2022: Blackmail, incomprehensible accusations and mockery of outsiders, constant last-ditch demands with threats. It is especially characteristic that the action is justified by a nonsense claim - the need to eliminate Gerassimov and Soigu - compare to the elimination of Ukrainian drug addicts and Nazis from power. Same script? This thing has been planned for a long time´´
Laser Shark Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Thanks, @bojan. Strange. I didn't know that Russia operated this variant, but a bit googling suggests that they might be Indian ones that were in Russia to undergo modernization?

Remarkable the bit from 1:44 on. Putin states that revolutionaries betrayed Russia in 1917, and that the current rebels are doing the same.

I think last year there were speculations that they were originally intended for India, but Russian Army decided to send them to Ukraine instead.
