Mike1158 Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 I am guessing this is a spoof. Hoping so anyway, being out of date with these here games means gullibility has to be guarded against.
bojan Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 It is, through as most well done spoofs hits close to the home.
Skywalkre Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Too close... I honestly don't think changes like this would make any impact on the NA scene. The majority of players there (not many left) have fully embraced the P2W aspects of WoT at this point.
Mike1158 Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Sadly the WOPT project appears to be gone, a real shame. They came up with quite decent paper model tanks that were surprisingly easy to get good results from. https://papermau.blogspot.com/2019/02/the-great-world-of-tanks-papercraft.html
Avalon12 Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 I came back to the game after years of being away from it. Man, what a decline. That said, i created a Historical battle clan and i'll try and recruit losers like myself for one last go of fun by apeing historical battles and confrontation in team training.
Skywalkre Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 You're either incredibly brave or foolish. For a few years now I'd come back every 6-8 months because I was that bored (or a glutton for punishment... depends how you view it). My longest stay back was maybe 10 days... sometimes I uninstalled the game the same day I reinstalled it. Despite my feelings towards WG and where they were taking the game it was holding steady for several years back in the late teens at something like 15-19k players on a night (still a far cry from the 60k+ a year after release). Things have apparently gone south pretty fast in the last few years. Last time I was on I don't remember seeing pop ever pass 10k. Playing late at night I actually ran into situations where full games couldn't be generated. On top of that the playerbase now has fully embraced the P2W aspects of the game. Years ago folks would at least feel a little shame about buying the latest OP premium. Now... they brag about (and rub it your face if you don't... fascinating to see so much pride from folks being tools). Then there's the fact that when you get into games... you don't recognize a damn vehicle anymore. You might as well be playing with AT-ATs and Battlemechs given the historical fantasy most of the vehicles you'll see played are. I've said it before, but it's telling that on a site called TankNet that basically none of us play anymore...
seahawk Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 I play war thunder for the rare moments I want to play such a game. At least the tanks still look like tanks.
Mistral Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 Still had it installed and gave it a try. Second game, tier 9, half the teams were that new premium t9 tank everyone got as a gift. After I died I was watching the gameplay which raised my curiosity to check some of those premium drivers. One had 49 games total and was playing in a T9 game. Finally Uninstalled it for good.
Skywalkre Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 I've never understood the mindset of folks like that. Spend lots of money on a premium in a game you haven't played (same goes for folks who buy accounts of games they haven't played). Like... what do they expect the outcome will be? With that being said... at least in WoT's history there have been premiums new players could buy that were so OP even novices could have some luck with them. I ran into this situation a few years ago when I came back for one of my brief stints. About a month before WG released some new tier 8 heavy premium (think it was Chinese) that was effectively impervious from the front (even to many gold rounds) and had a stupidly nasty gold round that could pen basically everything. Just... comically sad how WG sold their souls to rake in some money from the whales. That stint back was particularly short...
Stefan Fredriksson Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 (edited) I think "Patton the tank" (tier 9) was a giveaway to all players. Only requirement was basically log in. So no money spent. Edit: as Mistral wrote. Edited January 4, 2024 by Stefan Fredriksson
Colin Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 The Patton was a very nice surprise. I still enjoy the game, out of my 30,000 battles I have played only 150 tier X battles. Tier 4-8 is where the fun is and I am not a stat counter so I try to avoid getting to wound up about game issues.
Sardaukar Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Tier 3-8 were fun. I did like my E50M a lot though, suited to my suicidal playing style.
