I am not sure if he is only troll, at first I thought so, but he actually contributed money to local pro-NATO lobbyists.

Well, as an Austrian he sure as hell isn't a 'NATO committee chairman of whatever' as listed in bio, recently on twitter he's been calling for the partition of every old and new BRICS member with detailed maps. And for some reason made authoritative calls for every non-euro EU country (and some non-EU countries) to adopt the euro.

Of course Sputniks and the like have already picked it up, quite a lot of people on twatter are responding to his posts as if he was the 'official voice of NATO' and it's been damn hilarious. I believe he's having a really good time.

Just found that Singapore's father, Lee Kuan Yew, had quite an opinion of China's Xi Jinping.

From this Atlantic piece:

Quote

Many politicians and officials in Washington still pretend that China is just another big player. Lee knew Xi well, however, and understood that China’s unbounded aspiration was driven by an indomitable determination to reclaim past greatness. Ask most China scholars whether Xi and his colleagues seriously believe that China can displace the United States as the predominant power in Asia in the foreseeable future. They will duck the question with phrases like “It’s complicated ... on the one hand ... but on the other ...” When I put this question to Lee during a meeting shortly before his death, his eyes widened with incredulity, as if to ask, “Are you kidding?” He answered directly: “Of course. Why not? How could they not aspire to be number one in Asia and in time the world?”

There is the distinct possibility of Xi being the smartest among today's world leaders.

What makes that very worrying is that he is both a convinced Communist, and a Chinese patriot. Possibly, even a Chinese Nationalist.

I don’t see how anyone could fail to characterize him as a Chinese nationalist. He’s explicitly had a goal of China being at the top of the technological and economic order by 2050. He is not at all subtle about his desire for Chinese global hegemony, even if those are not the explicit terms he uses. I’m not sure who this would possibly be a surprise to.

As to whether he’s the smartest man in the room…well the jury is out. Certainly foreign policy wise, he hardly seems to be winning hearts and minds.

From what I've read lately, actual Sino-Indian relations seem to be in a state of flux where both sides are posturing, but there are indications/signals that each wants a better working relationship.

President Emmanuel Macron expressed concern about the expansion of BRICS and stated that the entry of new members into the bloc could lead to a "fragmentation of the world." "The expansion of BRICS shows the intention to build a world order alternative to the current one, which is seen as too Western," said the French President during a meeting with ambassadors on Monday. "We are an Amazonian power through French Guiana. I would like Brazil and the powers in the region to accept our membership," he added. Citing that the new configuration of BRICS could pose a risk to the weakening of Europe, Macron stated that he intends to "engage with all" partners to try to prevent such a scenario.

Desperation settling inside the Garden.

Macron is funny.

Not sure why China is releasing maps that antagonize people yet again. I can’t believe it is an oversight, and even if it were, the CCP system doesn’t really allow for retractions. Chinese diplomacy just seems to intentionally piss off or intimidate as many people as it can.

Maybe because they are so smart and such good planners, unlike idiotic Westerners who plan for the next term, two tops?

The Chinese seem never to give up anything for nothing.  Leverage.

Neither Xi, nor Putin will attend the upcoming G20 meeting in India.  Instead Putin will be visiting China this fall.

Another sign of changing times.

I think you confuse a couple thousand years of Chinese culture with the absolute failure of the Chinese communist party.

Another sign that the most populous nation India isn’t part of it.
