Any reason why there were no 90mm a.a. guns in the Philippines in 1941? My understanding is that this gun was in production in that year.

There were none in Hawaii either. Yes, production was beginning, the first production piece was completed in February 1941 and it was standardize 1 May. By 1 July, another 14 were complete. Not enough to equip a single battalion. A total of 54 more were completed by 1 October, the latest they could be expected to ship and arrive...but the priority was getting them to the Coast Artillery (AAA) School at Camp Davis, NC, Fort Bliss, OK, and Fort Sheridan, IL, so units could start training on them.

Thank you. Now I understand. Would the first use be on Guadalcanal?

Psst!  Fort Bliss is in Texas!

I always get that mixed up for some reason, probably because I never lived there. I wasn't born yet when My Mom and Dad and older sisters were there in 1951.
