First, DeSantis didn't start the beef.  It was Disney that mounted a political campaign against the State of Florida.  In any case, the State of Florida, through the leadership of Ron DeSantis, has passed laws to protect the children of Florida from child grooming perverts of the left.  The people of Florida overwhelmingly thought this a good thing.  Parents across the nation, when told the truth about those laws, also think those laws are noble and righteous.

Disney registered their disagreement with the policy after its employees put pressure on the corporation. I'd hardly call it "a campaign". That kind of implies they made some kind of serious attempt to have the legislature overturn the law; outside of releasing some statements I don't recall them doing much more than registering an opinion. As for the popularity of the law, I've no seen any polls. It wouldn't surprise me if it polled well in Florida in its original form. I doubt it polls "overwhelmingly" well outside ruby red states once it was extended through the high school level, but I haven't seen any polling since that change.

If you want to diddle your own children and subject them to grooming techniques, buy them "tuck" friendly undergarments, advise them to rip out their ovaries and slash off their beans and franks...well, don't, but if your base instincts force you to do it, at least keep it within your own bloodline so that your progeny cannot reproduce and infect the next generation.

My understanding is that the law concerns the discussion of sexuality, or at least non straight sexuality, at all levels of the school system and I don't believe has any clauses concerning grooming and diddling. I don't think discussing such subjects makes children gay, particularly at the high school level when many are already sexual active, but I assume you feel differently.

No talk of encouraging those mentally confused about their biological sex to become what they can never be.  No talk at all about sexual matters in the early school years.  No talk of anything sexual beyond sexual reproduction in later grades.  There will be no policy requesting teachers deny to parents knowledge that they are trying to groom their child for some type of perverted sexual freak out.

I don't think discussing such subjects should be within the purview of the state.  Leftists are absolutely wrong, they are not your children, those children belong to their parents first and foremost.

As for the trope about a "Don't say gay" bill, try pulling your head out of your leftist connections and expand your horizons.  Not one bill passed into law during the DeSantis administration ever mentioned anything about "gay".

Lastly, why won't you Leftists leave our children alone?

I simply consider it freedom of discussion, at least at the high school level (I don't really have a problem with the law at the grade school level). If you consider that "coming for your children", then we'll agree to disagree.

With Desantis in the race, I think we have everyone who matters committed (I'm quite sure Pence will run and I'm quite sure he won't matter). Does the forum think Desantis et al keep up the current tactic of tip toeing around Trump? IMO, if anyone is going to win this they eventually need to verbally assault Trump and all his weaknesses as a candidate publicly and repeatedly, otherwise only acts of god remove him from the nomination. Actually the one person who I think might honestly do just that, although only as a spoiler, is Christie (pity he didn't consider doing that in 2016 instead). I consider it possible but less likely that he enters the race solely to be a proxy fighter for whoever the alternative front runner ends up being (Desantis most likely).

Is that the official DeSantis campaign tweet handle?!?!

The narrator sounds like an NPR intern handed a mic. Actually it specifically sounds exactly like Galen Druke from the 538 podcast.

I DON'T KNOW! 😄

It looks like a satire account to me, but the way things are going over there, it could also be real.

That's actually DeSantis.

You're so plugged into the pulse  of things.

On the flip side, is the Biden Campaign going to be sending any more updates from his basement? Or are they going to put a lid on the campaign at 10am each day?

I am waiting with baited breath for the Biden Campain's 8mm film based promo.

I don't watch cable news or video online; I like to read news. So I've never heard his voice. He has no prayer of winning if he ever has to get on stage with Trump. That isn't the voice of a strong man; that's the voice of someone who got shoved into a locker for their lunch money.

I assume he's a little busy with the GOP holding the economy hostage. But I'm hardly going to bat for the guy; I think he's the worst candidate since Dukakis and I wanted him to retire. He still has a better than even chance of beating whoever runs as an R, which doesn't speak very highly of the MAGAfied state of the GOP.

Absolutely, but that may not help anyway. Trump won't be playing nice with other candidates, that's for sure.

Holy crap, it is the real campaign, and per rmgill that is DeSantis' voice. I really thought it was a spoof; the video looped and seem put together by a film student and the voice over was delivered with the energy of a college student being forced to read their essay aloud to the class.

Yes, the voice is from this Twitter Space he did with Elon Musk and that other Tech Bro (David Sachs or something) which turned out a complete disaster.

Because that was such a trainwreck, I didn't expect them to make an official video out of it.

Yes, no-one can compete with the full power of the Dark Brandon energy.

Dark Brandon isn't DeSantis' competition right now, and likely never will be.

If DeSantis actually grows a pair and fights back against Trump (big if), one possible tack would be to portray him as a loser who couldn't get done the stuff he said he would -- couldn't get The Wall built, wokism spread like a cancer during his tenure, screwed up the Covid response, crime rates rose, couldn't drain the swamp, couldn't even get re-elected [cough I mean failed to prevent widespread pervasive election fraud!], f*cked up the midterms, etc.

I still think DeSantis is doomed even if he does grow testicles because all Trump has to do is point out his historical stances on Medicare and Social Security, so it's kinda moot.

Trump strikes back:

You can tell Trump actually put together a decent team this time around. They also poached several Florida endorsements all in one week behind Desantis back.

I can't wait to see a GOP nominee poll in a couple weeks to see how voters respond. Typically an official announcement bid gives the candidate a bump; I rather doubt that will happen after this.
