Ah, finally managed to recover my account (well, reset the password. Involved resetting it already earlier over phone but forgetting the new password :D)

In any case sadly have to say I will not be able to come - maddeningly I AM heading to NL in May, but it would be at the beginning of the month, have already some construction works planned for the second half of the month, so I will miss y'all by some days. Guess I might try to leave you some hidden gift in Den Helder or something :D

Friday 19th to Tuesday 23rd. Or do you mean each day's activities?

Is anything planned for the 23rd? Or is it a departure day?

19th Friday: arrival until 12 o'clock and in the afternoon Soesterberg

Saturday: Militracks

Sunday: Arnheim and Nimwegen

Monday: Den Helder

Tuesday: Amsterdam 

24th Wednesday: departure in the morning

OK. Thanks. So the van rental will be from noon 19 May until 23 May -- assuming we are not driving around Amsterdam -- one of the best public transportation places in the world. How many people are going to be there? Who will indicated as alternate driver?

If May 23rd is for visiting Amsterdam, then the van could be returned on the evening of the 22nd.

So, the Bastion Best Western Amsterdam Airport Hotel. I can get a 7% discount for a fixed booking. Although non-refundable! Has anyone booked yet? I plan to arrive Thursday evening -- as otherwise I would have to get too early to get to Amsterdam, pick up the van, check in, and say hello to everybody.

No, I have not booked yet but the plan is for us to arrive on Thursday too.

If arrival is on the 18th, then perhaps we could depart a bit early to Soesterberg on the 19th, and spend a whole day there. There are no good flights from here to arrive at Schiphol before 12:00 on the 19th.

Harold arrives on the 19th around 10 am AFAIK. I plan mine on the 18th because it's a 3-4 hour drive to Schiphol. Doable in the morning of the 19th but I'd rather not.

@Markus -- why drive! You are a DB employee. And there will be a van, so no need for a POV.

@Sunday -- my situation is that I don't want to het up at O-dark hundred to get to Amsterdam in stress. Not trying to start to program a day early. Of course, that does not preclude wet pre-program activities by early arrivals ...

1. Rail takes longer even if all connections are made. IF! 

2. We might be eight people. The seven(!) seater costs twice as much as a five seater. My car is ok for three, his for four. But I'll run the train idea by him.

Hi Leo. If the trains allow, I'll aim to arrive Thursday evening too. Gives me an acclimatisation night in the hotel, I always have a problem getting good sleep first night.

I've got my reservation at the Best Western 19th-24th, my flight gets in at 0745 so I should get to the hotel by 0930ish.
