Retired US Navy pilot decorated for Korean War engagement

Recommended Posts

"When he was debriefed, he was quickly made aware of the real implications of what he had just done. With the Cold War in full swing, he had shot down actual Soviet jets — and, unbeknownst to him during the flight, he had been directed towards them based on a classified intelligence collection program from the National Security Agency."

So this apparently wasn't a chance encounter.

Taking on several Mig15's in a Panther shows some pretty excellent combat skills. The two aircraft were not in the same league.

There was another incident where I think it was two USAF pilots got lost, and strafed an airfield in the USSR and destroyed several dozen Airacobra's. Sadly they wont get a gong for it. :)

"Comrade, we fifteen General staff officers have come with terrible news.  This Captain is the responsible officer and he will tell you how he allowed the enemies of the state to destroy assets for the defence of the motherland.

Perhaps we can just shoot him and call it case closed"?
