No interest whatsoever.  A ball game where you cannot use your hands (except the Hand of God) and there is no real physical contact - no, not interested.  Might as well be playing field hockey - at least in ice hockey players hit each other,

Spain looks very impressive. I may put a bet on them to win.

While I cross my fingers, I seriously doubt we will be contenders once the people that breathes soccer gets their shite together.

It is called Soccer.  :D

Actually it comes from 'Association Football', ie 'Soccer', a term invented after Rugby claimed 'Rugby Football' (after the Rugby School).  Later Rugby 'Union' and Rugby 'League', also recognising (not recognizing) that American and Canadian Football were both derived from the Rugby game.

Remember that the Grey Cup was first awarded as an award for the Canadian amateur rugby football championship beginning in 1909, but it was stolen by those who adopted a similar game to that played in the rebellious colonies of North America.

So please let me know when the American Football world cup will next be played?

Posted (edited)

You American guys with your own sports who don't play against different countries, really miss out in international tournaments. There is nothing better than saying to people from different countries

"you lose,

you lose,

you lose.

you lose" 😀

Not even as much a world event as the World Series - which was named for a newspaper.  At least MLB has teams in two different countries.

Canadian rugby football was a version of American football (or vice versa) from the 1880s.  They dropped the "rugby" of the name in the early part of the last century.

Cricket is becoming more popular in the US, or course. I suspect that they'll want to change it a bit so they can become "World" champions. As soon as the West coast and East coast organisations can stop fighting with each other.

Agree, very melancholy behavior on the rest of the world :(

To the rest of the English-speaking world, there is no "u" in behavior 🏈
