Josh
It is an active submarine rescue/recovery vessel that was used to dive Moskva. Iām surprised it was not moved with Ā the rest of the fleet; it still was the only deep water submersible capable vessel in the Black Sea as far as I know. It is de-facto floating platform that Navy (Soviet Navy) was trying to kick away to Academy of Science back in 1984, 40 years ago. So occasional use of it is not making it new.Ā Ā Anyway, as i have allready said, Black Sea fleet is leftover of Soviet and post-Soviet time, the best use of it is to sell/donate ships (and submarines) to real Navy (for example Iranian) where thbey could be put to at least some use, while Black Sea could be controlled by aviation and land-based missiles, especially mobile ones. seahawk
Does it matter? The ship has no military value for the current Civil War.
Stuart Galbraith
Well it clearly does, they get her out of mothballs every time they lose a ship with something valuable on it. Ā

Ā Ā Luckily, construction boom was kept out of some "military" places like Kronshtadt - as result, this ruin (floating workshop) survived In fact it is the oldest surviving ship of Russian "iron age" Navy (dated 1863)Ā Russian monitor Strelets - Wikipedia (turbopages.org) Ā

Yes it is overkill for that platform as it won't be able to use the range of the HMG anyway. The AGL mount that we see on others seems more useful, it also vibrates but this is less of a problem as accuracy is less of an issue and it certainly is good enough to be used as a sort of light artillery for suppressing trenches with plunging fire. Something like 5.54mm RPL-20 + RPO might be optimal for assault operations but keeping a good signal in urban areas might be an issue.

Video too big for unregistered Telegram, but wasn't that example abandoned over winter? I don't think it can be activated in 2 days, unless Leopard's engineering is more robust than I thought. Well I suppose engine can be started, if it didn't burn. I guess they can place it in front of Swedish or German embassy...

Kommuna still rule the harbour waves.šŖ Hmm, I am not expert enough to recognize all those other ships on same pier, but at least some are warships. Also, two ships have moved between the pics (fourth from the left is different ship in 4-22, and third from the right has left (seems like a landing ship). So this reinforces my theory that some other ship was the actual target.
Josh
Honestly, Iām glad that ship is still around. From what I know it was practically one of a kind even when it was built. I hope it survives the war.
