LOL ROTFLMAO!  So true, but are they doing a trial run to get prepped to interfere with the November election?

My suspicions are that the FB problems are a trial run by the PRC's cyber offense crowd, to measure how social media chaos impacts the population. I assume China isn't just going to take down part of the power grid, they'll also disable some of the social media complex...

Yep, infrastructure interruptions and/or social chaos would provide cover for POTUS to choose to ignore aggressions towards Taiwan. But the Party ain't stupid, they would coordinate POTUS to avoid any surprises at either end.

Right now, the PRC could do some massive distractor attack and the Swampers in DC could esily be convinced to blame it on the Russkies.

Twitter is still alive and kicking and still seems to be the platform of choice for the media. Out of the many Twitter alternatives that sprung up around the time of the buyout only Truth Social gets any press and that is mostly because the orange man posts there/owns it.

I'v tried to search how twitter is doing financially. I keep getting results that say revenue is down since Musk bought it, but starting to come back.

Before Musk bought twitter it was losing money most years.

Even with revenues being down, Musk cut a lot of fat from twitters staffing. Is he turning a profit?

I'm not a fan of twitters format. I've never paid much attention to twitter. I've never twitted or tweeted.  I've seen second hand postings from twitter on other peoples posts on forums. I don't like the way their videos are posted.

I think the bolded underlined bit is true of most people which is a big reason that what's important on twitter is not really all that important in real life.  I use it to follow various writers I'm interested in, and it is a handy way to get notified of patches for games I have installed but don't play often.  I'd use it more if it just would present the posts of people I follow in straight up chronological order. Instead it persists in using an algorithm  to gage what it should show me to boost my engagement.

It seems to my recollection that twitter would be referenced quite commonly on the news, and was used to drive news cycles before the Musk era. Not so much any more.

It was discovered during the time that Musk was taking over that many accounts were bots. So it appears that certain groups were using twitter to push news cycles. And made it artificially look like there was more human interest than there actually was.

Twitter/X, from its inception, has been mostly bots/inactive accounts.  There were reports years beforehand how maybe a single digit % of accounts were unique users who were active.

I had an old fb friend who over a decade ago worked at a company here in the states that generated fake social media activity for paying customers.  Twitter was a major source of this generated traffic that was just her on a multitude of accounts.  There are 'farms' like this all over the world that generate traffic that is just there to deceive.
