Laurelix
I have always wondered if the 85mm BR-365K AP(HE) round was capable of defeating the Upper Glaces armour of the Panther, specifically the Panther A model using RHA and the quality of steel is good. Have the Russians ever conducted such tests? I know the Allies tested different array of anti tanks guns against the Panther. I have calculated my own estimations but thats what it is at best due to all the different variables... For example sources dont seem to want to agree wether upper plate thickness was 80mm or 85mm. bojan
Yes, Soviet tests. IIRC Turret could be penetrated up the 1000+m, lower hull up the 500m and glacis could not be penetrated.
Peasant
Text written in chalk says "85 AP", "D-700m" and "D-1000m". No info on the distances from which the lower glacis was shot. Edited July 28, 2022 by Peasant

And it was a thick-er than average, a 65mm thick LFP. Quote Shot No. 9 Shell type: AP. -- same -- Armour thickness( in mm): 65 Damage to the target: "Breach 30x50mm.
