Way out of date with games, BF 1942 and BF 2 at a stretch.  BF 2 and modern appear to be based on movement by mannequins driven by operators on some very bad carpet.

I look at a few here and there but nothing really appeals tbh.

Team Yankee was one I forgot.

Command: Modern Operations - Falklands addon DLC

This doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet, released on 24 November 2022

Anyone playing this, or have comments about the C:MO engine?

I do play it and like it. Haven't had the time to play much of Falklands DLC yet, though.

Not military at all, but Hardspace: Shipbreaker is a casual game that can be broken up into approximately 15 minute time-sucks and has a suitably Dystopian back story, although that's a light touch on the game core functions.

You play an indentured labourer who uses a laser, magic grapple and linear charges to dismantle worn-out ships. It gets quite dangerous, but that's ok as you have plenty of "Prince Harrys" to use as spares.

Can't stop playing Warhammer III Total War, it's becoming a problem. The world is so well-thought-out, and there's like a zillion different factions and 86 different leaders. And the combat's actually great.

For those who don't know about the universe, it's basically a twisted version of Planet Earth but fantasy and magic, but with like 1600s-era gunpowder tech, but with HP Lovecraft. You've got your Holy Roman Empire fighting off demons from hell with pike (er, halberds) and shot, dwarves with flamethrowers, Good Elves with dragons, Bad Elf slavers, orcs, Fantasy China, armies of Lawful dinosaurs, evil rat-people, I cud go on.... it's become completely insane.

And Orks are British football fans, and all littered with terribly lame puns, "pig Latin", misspelled German names etc. :) Both Warhammer and it's quasi-futuristic Warhammer 40000 settings are incredibly settings, and both are firmly in my top 5 of my favorite fantasy universes.

Until the End Times fucked it all up. :( Age of Sigmar sounds horrible

Not really horrible, but "forgettable" compared to old one, being much more geared toward generic fantasy setting. I am calling it "WoW at home" :)

Oh, "Partizan"... Pale shadow of what they were, but at least they are not "Red Star". :D

As a constant contrarian, my favorite team in the late '80s was Dinamo Zagreb. :)

So a friend of mine looked at my gaming and business pc's and reconfigured the hardware and software for optimization.

Irony of ironies, the biz pc can run games faster than the gaming pc.

He also found out the gaming rig was underpowered and that the plate hd was on death's door.  After replacing both I feel like I got a new comptuter.

So I'm back to gaming and back to an old game, Kingdom Come Deliverance.   It's so addictive and once I finish it I'll play it again.

It's been a loooong time since I was incolved with games at all but I took a chance with it for a giggle.  No idea what the holy handbasket I am on with it as there is no tutorial worth a dooh dah.

Anyone else here tried it?

Yeah, I got it. Been trying to build a Chieftain. Ironically I got it down to 45 tons, which is more than the MOD did. :D

Been doing a bit of tank mechanic simulator. More fun than I remember, particularly  the new ones like the Panzer II, where you have to take the gearbox apart.

Yeah, my gaming PC is underpowered too. I've a new power-pack for it, I'm just scared shitless  to tear it down and fit it.

I don't blame you. He listed screwups done by the manufacturer.

I had to tell him this:

* New AAW missile kinematics & aircraft evasion
* Multi-Domain Strike Planner
* Operations Planner
* Cargo 2.0
* Revised Mission Editor

I was rather disappointed that the scenario Id been working on 5 years ago for CMANO seems to crash after several hours with CMO. Perhaps the hardware demands are much greater, but its still disappointing. Mind you, it probably didnt help that I put in most of southern nato. I probably need a WOPR to run the bugger.
