Certainly, just like most surviving 70s Social Democrats. Though that's more an effect of the parties' rush to the center in the Blair-Schröder period, and the emergence of the new Nordic tough-on-immigration-and-security type à la Mette Frederiksen.

Here is the thing Americans will never understand. People you regard as Commies, to us look like the vague middle ground of European politics. Your politicians insistance that any form of Welfare is pure Stalinism isnt just regarded a historical curiosity in Europe. The rest of the world is looking at America wondering if its something in your Pizza.

Im not judging America for what It does, you will continue to do what pleases you im sure. I just am continually amused at how Americans judge the rest of the world and find them wanting, and fail to recognise they are the odd ones out.

For my part, I dont think its the left, or the right, that is destroying America. I think its the obsession with lobbying. You still share that in common with UK politics.

Try it this way and it will be just as accurate to an American. Exchange "American" for European and to the left for "the vague middle ground of European politics." In regards to the pizza comment, we must have great pizza as we have an immigration problem vs an emigrantion problem.

Maybe a standard Stuart rant (even though I'd rate it more of an observation than a rant). Don't see many "Yurrows" posting similar texts recurring and with regularity. It sounds like a standard Yank rebuttal so you don't actually have to think about it. You never know where thinking will take you.

If your vaguely referring to hard core supporters of former President Trump, I don't see too many of them on this forum, or in real life.

Most I know who lean Republican wish Trump had never ran in 2016, and hope he doesn't return in 2024.

On the other hand most are glad Mrs. Clinton didn't win in 2016  and wish Joe Biden wasn't president now. 

It is a more nuanced view than orange man bad, or orange man great.

No. It's that the folks who implement socialism here regard it as a success when the welfare rolls go up and not down. It's  a war on poverty that encourages poverty engendering behavior. 

Imagine treating a disease in such a way that multiple generations of people from the same family all have the disease. And that's regarded as a success.

Lobbying is how you get legislation done. If you don't have lobbying who's driving the legislative process? Personal friends of the legislators?

The thing about regulation is that the MORE they regulate, the more you're inclined, as a business or special interest group to tr to keep them from doing things that might affect your business/sector of interest.
