Liverpool FC is a fire-control system from some place in England? LFC is, I presume, laser fire-control :)

LFC ==  "Laser Fire Control"  I kinda like that 😀

Usually over here in the old continent FC stands for football club, the notable exception being the Liverpool F*cking C*nts...

3-0 for Real, assuming the liverpudlian fans manage to crawl into the stadium so the match can actually get underway today

Let battle commence 😆

And for the those not familar to English football fans. Our motto is  "What we can't win it on the pitch. We'll win off the pitch"

My condolences, no shame in losing against the team with the best record in that competition since it was established.

In other news, the French Police corralled the Liverpool supporters, because some turned up with fake tickets. Then they sent in the riot police and tear gassed them. Some of them were nearly crushed according to some accounts.

If you dont know why this is an act of deperate cluelessness, then its worth doing a search for  'Hillsborough'.

It does seem that the French security services over reacted against the English supporters but not against the Spanish ones. Another bad night for Scousers everywhere.

My condolences, no shame in losing against the team with the best record in that competition since it was established.

RM now have 14 Champions league wins compared to Liverpool's 6.  Did you watch the game? Liverpool was definitely the better side, especially in the first half when all RM did was defend, defend and defend.

Man  City have never won the Champions League, although out of the last 4 years MC has won the premiership 3 times.

I know the phase "Lies, damned lies and statistics" but Liverpool really dominated last nights game.

                                       Liverpool            Real Madrid

Possession                    54%                    46%

Shots                             24                        4

Shots on target            9                           2

Corners                         6                          2

Fouls                             13                         7

Fouls                             13                         7

And then the statistics that matter:

Goals                             0                         1 (*)

(*) why only 1 and not 2, only the VAR knows...

Having the ball in the opponent's half only counts if you can convert it into goals and not get hit on the counter, both of which pool failed yesterday...

Very true, at the end of the day it's who wins is most important. But that's just sport, if we know who wins it would make it boring.

See you next season 😀

Not much echo on the press in English about the incidents caused by the local natives, French "in name only", but the Spanish media, even the far left ones, are aflame with reports of Spanish fans being robbed of cell phones, watches, personal ID, etc. Cars broken into too. Quite the nightmare for families with children.

It was a good game. It's sorry that a lot of supporters on both sides had problems.

There is only one sport in Europe >>> football.

USA has uni and pro basketball, baseball, football, hockey, ...

In Britain we play Golf, Cricket, Football, Rugby Union, Rugby League and Tennis. One thing I never understood about say US Football was the lack of teams from other countries competing against the US teams. There's nothing better than an English team defeating Germany, Italian, Spanish etc teams.

It's warfare by other means 😀

Edit: I actually like US Football but at three and a half hours long per game is to much.

The atmosphere in english stadium altogether is something to experience... only made it once, that was in Goodison, 10 years ago, also vs spurs...

I haven't been to a match in nearly 30 years but from what other people who have told me a lot of the atmosphere no longer exists. Most local working class people cannot afford the price of a ticket and the game has gone middle class. The result being that a lot of the passion for the game no longer exists. Even the cost of watching it on the TV is prohibitively expensive. On my income I cannot afford to watch it on the TV and I luckily found a free live stream on Y Tube.

Great game though.

The sports mentioned are the BIG ones with the money.

US pro football puts me to sleep, uni football not so much.

USA/Can football (soccer) is boring.

Now hockey, never ending action with a minimum advert times.
