I hope you're right, but with what looks like significant flooding, the cost of repairs, maintenance, and restoration will have significantly increased.

Agreed.  Much will depend on if the hull can be kept pumped dry until the epoxy needed for repairs can be applied.  The lake water has to at 57 degrees Fahrenheit for that, which won't happen until late May.

This is very local to me and one of the biggest news stories in Buffalo right now.  I have visited The Sullivans a dozen or more times, along with the Little Rock and the rest of the museum.  The museum absolutely has the public's support, and I think others will contribute as well. A friend of mine who Is German has even chipped in some. 

I don't think this will be the end of The Sullivans.
