I was recently looking at building a wooden model of HMS Surprise. I became convinced I dont have enough years left to built the skillset to do it halfway competently.

That wood working is not that difficult but the rigging is definitely difficult.🙂

It's not like the standing and running rigging has to work for real. Jack tars who were semi-literate learned to rig it for real in the space of months on the job under the threat of the cat and with meagre pay and feed.
