Easter Sunday!  The resurrection of Jesus, and eventually all of mankind, from the physical death.  Preceded by Maundy Thursday which is the remembrance of The Last Supper during which the Son of God washes the feet of his human disciples. Seven Sundays later is Pentecost, the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem.

Happy Easter everyone!

Visited my local brother this morning for the egg hunt with his three-year-old daughter, but greater family meeting will be virtual once again due to pandemic conditions, though hopefully for the last time. As I noted over in the COVID thread, my parents and I myself have appointments for vaccinations lined up, and abovementioned brother already got his first shot due to working in the medical field.

Unfortunately mood in the family is also somewhat subdued because my favorite uncle passed away from ALS on Tuesday, right after he was admitted to hospital for palliative care. His condition had taken a turn to the worse in the previous two weeks, to the point where he could no longer walk and started having trouble breathing in addition to swallowing and talking.

Going on 80, he had quite understandably opted against life-prolonging measures, but felt very well cared for by his palliative practitioner. However, his wife couldn't find a nursing service with the capacity to assist her at home in the short run, hence the move to hospital. As often in such cases, the sorrow is tempered by some relief he went comparatively quick and easy, considering the circumstances.

I'm glad I took the chance to accompany him and my other uncle and godfather on a trip to a family dwelling where they spent much of their youth when coming back from the French I&I three years ago, which was the last time we met before the wedding of my brother #4 the next summer, where he already had symptoms prior to diagnosis. COVID pretty much prevented all subsequent family events, though my parents met with him when he made sort of a farewell tour with his wife last fall. In the end, he still had a full and interesting life as an army aviation pilot and later flight accident investigator, who was largely the source of my own lifelong aeronautic fascination.

He is risen indeed!  Alleluia!

I am sorry to hear of your family's loss, BansheeOne.
