Dawes
Does this mean wider acceptance of this round or will it remain somewhat of a niche cartridge? https://fnamerica.com/press-releases/nato-standardizes-fns-5-7x28mm-caliber/
17thfabn
I would expect it to stay a niche cartridge. Most troops can take a carbine sized weapon in 5.56 with out much difficulty. May be handy for tank and aircraft crews.
Wobbly Head
It is a FN press release so they are hardly going to say two NATO army's bought some of our guns so they had to standardize the cartridge. I doubt it will become a wider accepted round for the same reason other rounds are not taking over established calibers like 5.56mm NATO it's just too much money to change the weapons for too little gain in performance. rmgill
Isn’t the intended competition for 5.7x28mm the 9mm?

Rickard N
What is it that makes Glocks fall apart from it? /R
Simon Tan
Very high pressures. The Russians use it in steel framed guns or Gsh-18. 7N31 is +P+++ Edited March 23, 2021 by Simon Tan
