"In the latest Rasmussen Reports survey shared with Secrets, 72% agreed with the statement, “It’s OK to be white.” Even a majority of black people, 53%, agreed.

when asked if voters agreed or disagreed with the statement, “Black people can be racist, too,” 79% agreed, including 66% of black people."

You would think it would be 100 % okay to be white. And 100% that blacks can be racist, since blacks are humans and as such can have the same failings as any other humans.

I once knew a black man that said that blacks couldn't be racist because they didn't have economic power.

So I asked. If a black man beat the holey living crap out of an Asian man for no reason, while saying how much he hated Asians and spouting anti Asian things.

If this same man regularly went out and attacked Hispanics, white people, Asian Indians, Asians and Tlingits because he hates those groups.

Would that be racist?

He said no.

Some people you are just at an impasse with.  It is hard to have a discussion with some one who wants to change the meaning of words.

Who actually gives a fuck about "racism?"  If you actually do, you're an asshole and an idiot.  "Racism" is just a weapon used by one group against another, more stupid, weak and gullible group.

What happened to freedom of association?  Guess actual freedom isn't as important as not hurting other people's feelings because they're weak fucks, huh?  S/F....Ken M

Next time, ask him if rich blacks can be racist, and what the annual income threshold is at which point the non-racist hating of Asians and Latinos in your given example flips over to actually be racist. Does the racism fluctuate with the inflation rate?

Suppose, while he beats up a Korean store owner (because he hates Koreans), between two fist strikes he wins the lottery. Does that flip the context? What, if he doesn't know at that point that he just became rich?

Conversely, a rich black non-binary one-armed sister (let's not discriminate against men in our examples) who is (barely) racist (per the definition above, if there is a threshold) loses her wallet while kicking the defenseless granny (because, she doesn't look right), does that then become okay again?

I'd love to see the results of the entire poll rather than these snippets.  Going to the Rasmussen page is showing it locked behind a paywall.  I wonder if the results are pretty much the same across all groups.

As for what is racism... a few years ago I was reading a book and the author, a sociologist, defined racism in a way that was new to me.  Racism per her definition was something that only a group of people that were in a stronger SES group could do to someone who was in a lesser one.  This was... bizaare to hear to say the least.  Ran it by some of my liberal friends and most hadn't heard of this definition though a few did (and one even agreed with it).

And why does this sociologist get to change a definition?

What was worrisome is I got the impression this definition wasn't her creation (given a small number of my friends had heard of it before).  I have no idea how widespread it is.

Apparently he's a segregationist now, which might be true, but if so it's only a reaction to the blatant segregationist policies of those who have been waiting on a hair trigger to cancel him since he started blogging in favour of Trump.

That racism is prejudice + power is quite common in academia now.  It's an ill intentoned way to say that only white people (and their Asian accomplices) can be racist.

What Douglas Adams has said, I hear black people say about whites quite often. And it never bothers progressives.

If you watch the interview on Hotep Jesus' Youtube channel, you will divine what his real attitudes are.

He has seemingly been making a tactical error. He has not mentioned the ongoing self-segregation of American blacks (most visible at our unis; separate dorms, separate graduation ceremonies). Hotep Jesus alluded to a peculiar characteristic of the black/white dynamic in the US; the "invited to the barbeque" thing. Maybe Adams is waiting for an opportune moment to bring that up, but IMHO the time is now*.

Its amusing to watch the comment-o-sphere reacting.

I'm waiting for Uncle Hotep and Hotep Jesus (father and son, actually) to do one of their combo videos on the topic. Their combo videos are much better than their individual works.

* Before the next extraterrestrial train-derailing lighter-than-air UFO story hits the news...

Most of the people commenting on how horrible he is on this side of the pond aren't even slightly aware of the galloping segregation being promoted by US leftists, so miss the irony completely.

To me, that illustrates the power of framing. Separate dorms and separate graduation ceremonies, and I forgot to mention the infamous separate student centers/lounges, have been framed as "safe spaces" as if black college students are routinely beaten up by roving bands of pasty white* math majors.

In reality, of course, black students are made safe from heterodox ideas and cultures.

* Asian-American and Indian-American students are becoming increasingly white-adjacent.

I'm mildly interested in the "new blacks" - we occasionally get to see examples of first generation immigrant Africans and they go one of two ways. They either loathe "African Americans" as being lazy embarrassments, or they fall into the same compensation culture nonsense, because it's one route to Easy Street.

Which is not to say that there aren't many successful black Americans, but they tend to be quiet because nobody likes to be singled out for the very special hatred that is aimed at "sell outs".
