The last Trump year before Covid (2019), the deficit was 1 trillion, this even a level not seen since the 2008-2012 period. Unfortunately, the economy is only slightly larger than 5 years ago. With inflation being so high, the interest on the deficit is starting to bite.
Tim the Tank Nut Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 watching the "hive mind' vitriol that is normally generated by the media that would usually be aimed at Trump swing in the direction of Biden is both interesting and educational. When people say that there is no conspiracy it gets harder to believe that when the Narrative acts as one. Now, I've said for years that the Borg concept aligns perfectly with the modern Democratic sensibility and that remains true; doesn't it spark any reflection when the Narrative swings so quickly in an opposite direction?
Ivanhoe Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 To paraphrase Orwell, we have always been at war with Eastasia. The left has never had an honest bone in its metaphorical body.
rmgill Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 They’ll riot over a drunk black man who fights with cops and is killed (Rayshard Brooks) but are silent when a little girl (Secoria Turner) is killed in one of the riots.
DKTanker Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 I'm looking forward to this. In an apparent attempt to instill confidence in his ability to continue as president and run for reelection, later this week Joe Biden will be conducting a "Big Boy" press conference. No word yet if Biden will be bragging about his ability to use the big boy potty.
rmgill Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 Will he be given the answers for the questions to study for weeks in advance? I do love the full steam ahead on Team Biden.

Ivanhoe Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Given that Biden & Co. are messaging that he'll never give up the WH, I am now wondering if the DNC shot-callers are going to signal the Justice Dept. and greenlight a prosecution to get him off the stage.

Yes, really. This is where we are now. O’Donnell said that it would be good to “Allow the candidates to have as many staff as they want, join them on the stage throughout the debate, and make sure that all of them have microphones.” He added that “the candidates should be allowed to turn to their staff and confer with them about anything at any time in the debate.”

This is all so 2010.... We should Get Sara Palin to address them on the subject... I blogged about this in 2010...of course the relevant linked image is long gone.
Stuart Galbraith Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 So George Clooney has joined the calls for Biden to resign. To paraphrase Johnson, if we lost Clooney, we lost the country.

Clooney was an A-list actor for a few years many years ago. Not so much now. Not a major voice in the Democratic party. I'm guessing the top figures in the Democratic party will not publicly oppose Biden continuing on until there they have a strong enough group to force him out. If they can't force him out, if in fact they want to, they don't want to undermine his candidacy.

You know, other than Nancy Pelosi who this morning said President Biden should revisit his decision to stay in the race. During her MSNBC interview Pelosi also kept responding that she'll support Biden no matter what he chooses to do. Completely ignoring the fact that Biden spent the weekend telling anybody that would listen, including the same MSNBC show that was interviewing Pelosi, that he wasn't leaving the race. That he wasn't going anywhere and nobody could force him to. I'm thinking the price just isn't right yet. He and his family, and by that I mean Jill, is likely holding out for a Golden Parachute of epic proportions. Edit to add: It is being reported that Senator Majority leader, Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has been telling donors that he is open to the idea of a replacement candidate. Edited July 10, 2024 by DKTanker

She did seem to say he should revisit his decision to continue on. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/nancy-pelosi-stops-short-saying-biden-stay-race-says-time-running-shor-rcna161097 "Nancy Pelosi stops short of saying Biden should stay in the race, says 'time is running short' for him to decide" Clearly Biden has made up his mind to continue his candidacy. The question is can he be persuaded to end his run for the presidency.
