lucklucky
Quote Per Jewish Insider, President Biden is considering adding another Israel hater to his team. Robert Malley shared his anti-Israel views as part of the Clinton and Obama administrations, an adviser to Bernie Sanders, and grew up with a socialist dad who was a close friend of terrorist Yasser Arafat. Malley is rumored to be appointed Biden’s special envoy to Iran. https://lidblog.com/robert-malley-iran/
nitflegal
We're back in the Paris climate accords and Keystone is dead! The path forward is rosy indeed. I have a unity idea; the left wants to cancel Republican voices; if we start with every Conservative voice who has been saying to vote for Biden to save the Republic and suddenly spins 180 degrees to express their horror that Biden is doing the exact things that he promised to I think most Republican voters will happily cheer that particular authoritarianism on! Don't we build unity by identifying and sharing values? Here's a place to start!

In this era of the internet and smartphones there is simply no excuse for voting stupidly. Democrats have a long history (so do Republicans) of making tons of promises for the vote and then doing the crap that their opponents warned that they would. If they don't like it they can start bombarding their congressidots today and promising they will be gone in two years if they don't stop this crap. But they won't. At this point the public is generally simply too dumb to use the checks and balances the Founders gave us because that would be like totally hard work. Which strangely enough is how their almost always reelected representatives govern as well. If the deciding factor in your vote is which politician promises to give you something that the government confiscated from someone else by force, you really shouldn't be allowed to be part of the political decision making process. But some old, dead, white guy (probably a racist even though he was French) identified that flaw in the system a long time ago.

It's a good thing after spending money like drunken sailors for four years the Republicans decided to very temporarily become fiscally responsible and refuse those $2,000 checks. . . What for, 'I love the President Day' parades? ISIS is reforming. Iran is infiltrating Iraq, and putting greater forces in Syria, which is hardly going to be good news for Israel. NK is building a SSBN and ICBM's that can at long last reach the US Coast. The Taliban and Al Qaeda are slowly retaking power in Afghanistan. Russia is rearming with tactical nuclear weapons, IRBM's and a new generation of Ballistic missiles. Its ground forces are more powerful than they have been since 1992, that is when he isnt trying to murder people with WMD. China is flexing its muscles and testing international norms on the high seas, and preparing to retake Taiwan as we speak if Chinese Generals are to be believed. And he sends a company of infantry. Yay. You can ignore problems all you want. Sooner or later it becomes apparent what the lesson of what 'Pay me now or pay me later' actually means. Now Biden is going to have to pay the bill for all the lack of interest Trump had in foreign policy. And you will blame him for doing the tidying up, because Biden is a warmonger, and Trump was responsible in not getting involved in foreign wars. And so the narrative will continue till the end of time. Amen. Edited January 21, 2021 by Stuart Galbraith

Now that Trump's gone and Georgia is lost, I'm sure fiscal responsibility will be the top GOP priority again like it was under Obama (and not Bush). Though to be fair, I think just handing money over to people isn't necessary or responsible. Those people who are still employed with their full work week (re: people who can work from home) don't need stimulus; they have money coming out of their ears because a lot of their disposable income outlets dried up (travel, going out, movies, etc). There will be plenty of pent up demand when there is a sense of relative safety; there's no need to pump the economy that way. What probably is much more necessary is unemployment benefits to bridge the gap to more re-openings and business activity.

The government would bring a civil action against some offending corporation, and then offer the corporation an opportunity to settle the dispute with a condition that required the corporation to pay some or all of the settlement money to a third party designated by the government. Quote Attorney General Jeff Sessions banned the practice after he took office. Legislation was later introduced in Congress — the “Stop Settlement Slush Funds Act of 2017” — which would have prohibited government officials from including any such provision in settlement agreements involving the Department of Justice. The legislation passed the House but was never acted upon by the Senate. Late last month the Trump Justice Department made the prohibition an official rule of the Department. It is that rule that Biden has now called into question with his Executive Order today. The Biden Administration — before there is even a new Attorney General — has decided to resurrect that old grift in order to get the spigot of money turned back on for left-wing interest groups who look to the Justice Department to be their collection agency Edited January 21, 2021 by lucklucky

The stimulus checks are stupid policy but highly useful politically. It would have enabled the Republicans to briefly indulge in the Democrat's effective strategy of free money when they desperately needed at least one GA senate win. By losing, they have lost not only those hundreds of billions but the untold amount of money the Democrats will be able to spend in the next two years. I believe that's the definition of penny-wise and pound foolish.
nitflegal
As Biden kills the 42000 union jobs on the Keystone pipeline I am sure China is thrilled. The Canadians aren't complete idiots; they are going to drill that oil out of the ground but now Biden has successfully kicked them over to China for shipping and refining. I wonder if some PRC energy company can hire Hunter for his expertise? If Biden is giving hundreds of billions of dollars to the PRC the least they could do is make sure Hunter gets a taste and the Big Guy gets his skim off the top. At this rate, when someone is foolish enough to conquer us we're just going to have to shake our heads wryly and admit "we deserved that".

nitflegal
Oh, and now trans girls (aka biologic boys) must be allowed to compete on girls' teams per EO. My daughter was on a Judo team and I would yank my daughter out of those teams with physical contact. Ironically, one of my eldest's friends is a trans female and she has said the same thing. She was not a big guy but average but she can actively manhandle my athletic daughter as a trans female. I have watched her accidently break ribs when working at 50% capacity where the same hit with f8ull power from a biologic female in the dojo left a bare bruise. Boys are just much bigger and stronger and can close the skill gap a huge amount just by physical advantages.
