This is the case with my work laptop. @LouieD I've done this for Challenger 1, but for Sep 89 not Jul. If this is still of interest I'm happy to share. Best, Greg. Second time Sir Humphrey has brought it to the fore on Twitter (do I have to pay him advertising fees?!?!)! Version 10 that I am currently working on May stretch the page count nearer to 200 and should bring back many memories to the Old & Bold, show the Mandarins at the MOD what could be fielded with 55,000 men/women, and be the penultimate reference work for historians and gamers. Stuart Galbraith
He comes up with some interesting stuff in the archives. The Tea advisor is a case in point, but there is lots more in there if you look. A book I can recommend is 'The Secret State' by Peter Hennessy. Hennessy unearthed a priceless document where the treasury were objecting to the cost of a telephone in PM Harold Macmillans car, and the alternative scheme was to have members of the AA flag down the prime ministers motorcade to let him know a nuclear war was underway.... Perun
RAFG was under 2 ATAF to the North. There were four bases Gutersloh with Harrier GR3 (see separate posting on this) Bruggen (all nuke tasked) No 9 Squadron: 12 Tornado GR.1 No 14 Squadron: 12 Tornado GR.1 No 17 Squadron: 12 Tornado GR.1 (has laser guided bombs) No 31 Squadron: 12 Tornado GR.1 No 37 Squadron: 8 Rapier SAM Laarbruch (all nuke tasked, except No 2) No 15 Squadron: 12 Tornado GR.1 No 16 Squadron: 12 Tornado GR.1 No 20 Squadron: 12 Tornado GR.1 No 2 Squadron: 15 Jaguar GR1A No 26 Squadron: 8 Rapier SAM Wildenrath No 19 Squadron: 12 Phantom FGR.2 No 92 Squadron: 12 Phantom FGR.2 No 16 Squadron: 8 Rapier SAM FOL at Gutersloh. Would operate at Deck altitude Last three bases are almost in the Netherlands forcing Soviet attack aircraft to fly the entire depth of West Germany. Chopped to SACEUR was: Marham (back in UK) No 27: 12 Tornado GR1 No 671: 12 Tornado GR1 Honington had the Tornado Weapons Conversion Unit (TWCU) for operational training. In wartime would form No 45 Squadron, also under SACEUR direct command TWCU/No 45: 26 Tornado GR1 Cottesmore, in UK, was the base for the Tri-National Tornado Training Establishment (TTTE). This provided initial conversion to type training. As the name suggests it had 23 German, 19 RAF and 6 Italian Tornado IDS. Germany would have formed wartime squadrons from the TTTE. RAF possibly would have used these as attrition replacements to other squadrons. All servicing was by RAF ground crews, also a useful force augmentation. Here is with available WE177 nuclear bombs in 1987: http://nuclear-weapons.info/images/1987-91.PNG Reinforcements: No 237 Squadron: 9 Buccaneer S2 with peacetime training role. In wartime would probably deploy to Europe to buddy base with Dutch F-16A and RAFG aircraft. Retained nuke role with WE177. No 12 and No 208 were Uk based for anti shipping (12 a/c each) Jaguar No 6 and No 54 would deploy to Denmark (both nuke tasked) No 41 to Norway. No 2 Squadron was RAG as above in recon role. No 226 was tasked to SACEUR, also nuke tasked. The RAF had a substantial homeland defence role. Its unlikely they would reinforce RAFG. Binbrook No 5 Squadron: Lightning F.6. No 11 Squadron: Lightning F.6. Coninsby: No 29: Tornado F3 (April 1987, declared fully operational 1 November 1987) No 228 training: Phantom FGR2. Would form No 64 Squadron in wartime. No 229 training: Tornado F2/F3. Would form No 65 Squadron in wartime. Leuchars No 43 Squadron: Phantom FG.1 No 111 Squadron: Phantom FG.1 No 27 Squadron: Rapier SAM Wattisham No 56: 15 Phantom FGR.2 No 74: 15 Phantom F-4J(UK) Mount Pleasant, Falkland Islands No 23: Phantom FGR.2 No 25 and No 85 Squadron had the Bloodhound II SAM No 19, No 20, No 66 had Rapier to defend US air bases in UK. https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1774596/article/33170607#33170607 Pleanty of interesting material

Especially when it comes to aircrafts' armaments at the time. However, 2 notes: 1. There's a typo in Marham sqn - should be 617th "Dambusters" not 671 2. Buccaneers from 237th Sqn/OCU would be used as in Desert Storm - with laser target designators for Tornados.
