Dawes Posted April 15, 2021 Author Posted April 15, 2021 Just a guess, but the Serbian entry should have the edge on overall cost?
bojan Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 There are things where it is better than competitors, there are things where it is worse. As always it is "pick a set of compromises that most suit you".
Nikolas93TS Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Had to drive in-between 2 of those on a highway just outside of Belgrade the last week. Impressive machines, albeit I think truck chassis was different (KamAZ I think?)
Simon Tan Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Every poligon in Russia is showcasing their artillery. Lots of it, tubes and MRLS. Artillery is best when you have a lot of different stuff for different tasks.

lucklucky Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 It is also a Portuguese term for firing training: poligono de tiro.

Maybe, but the US Army will not be looking at costs as the main factor otherwise it would have stuck to the towed guns. The Serbian entry will be problematic and very low chance versus other entries. Others have already extensive combat record for their entries, and can offer all the accessories - autoloading, secure datalinks, NATO standard comms, advanced FCS, BMS, and a plug and play architecture suitable for the future ABMS, built-in and made in-house. The Serbian entry would have to draw equipment from other companies.
bojan Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 I agree that Nora has very low chance, but others are also "mix and match". In particular Archer and Caesar also use barrel blanks from Slovakia, and Thales comm equipment.

BansheeOne Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 In fact POLYGONE is the name of a multinational electronic warfare range on the French-German border, too.

Simon Tan Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 The only Russian one I have been to is the one at Kubinka where they give firepower demos for the Army show attendees. Tunguska and Solntsepyok are show stealers.
